Town Confirm Doherty Deal
Tuesday, 23rd Jul 2013 19:18

Town have confirmed that 18-year-old Waterford winger Jack Doherty has agreed a two-year deal at Portman Road. TWTD was first to reveal that Clonmel-born Doherty was joining the Blues on trial during the training camp in Ireland and then, having impressed boss Mick McCarthy, that he was making the move to Portman Road.

Doherty will formally put pen to paper on Wednesday having been at the club since the weekend.

The Blues are understood to have paid the Airtricity Division One side an initial fee of around £50,000 for Doherty with further payments due after he hits appearance milestones.

And the good news keeps coming! Welcome Jack! You could be a legend if you really want to be!?? On other news, Richie Wellens for a season anyone? Released by Leicester today.

Good one for the future by the looks of things. We seem to have several out and out wingers at the club now. Hope to see Taylor performing well to convince MM he's worth a place in the team.

@bohslegend. Saw that Wellens was released earlier today an I thought the same thing. Classy attacking player with great passing ability, would be one o our oldest players though if we signed him.

Must be extremely good - he's the first signing this year that we've paid money for!

Delighted to see us sign a young talented winger. Been a long time since we had a young player who can get the crowd on their feet.
As for Wellens, why would you want him? Old, always unfit and decided to stay in Leicester reserves rather than come back and fight for us! If you're not their for our tough times you don't deserve to be here for the good times in my opionion.

Wellens did a job for us when he was here, but we have moved on as have much of the midfield personnel. No room for him now I'm afraid. Still if he's free!

Excellent news, can't wait to see his picture holding a town shirt. I think that may well be the last brick in the Ipswich Town wall, further couple of weeks for the team to gel and we'll be ready for anyone. COYB.

thinks Karlosfandangal is wrong to put Magic in the same category as the other 2 at least we finished playoffs and just below not 15th etc

Footyblue I was thinking that big jim had no money and we where 1 point off the play offs. But pj and rk you should take notes as this is how it should be done. players wanting to come to town not selling them over personal dislike. It's man management and a gd attitude the key to this season

So it goes around - Evans gets a good manager in, then a bad one, then a mediocre one, and now we have a good manager again.
