Wigan Game Set for Sunday Switch

Town’s game at Wigan Athletic, which was scheduled for Saturday 21st September in the fixture list which was released this morning, looks set to move to the following day.

The Latics qualified for the Europa League by winning last season’s FA Cup and are due to be in action in a group game on the preceding Thursday.

I remember back in 2001 we played a UEFA Cup match on the Thursday, followed by Man Utd away on the Saturday (and lost the latter 4-0). Fergie said that he didn't want to switch our game to the Sunday because they were preparing for a Champions League game the following week. Guess the rules have changed since then.

ITFC_Forever added 20:14 - Jun 19 Chicago... That was due to Sept 11th... We should have played the week before, but UEFA put the games back a week due to the air chaos and uncertainty following 9/11. As for TV games, the less the better. They're a pain in the arse.

emergencylime added 10:30 - Jun 20 The Manchester derby is scheduled for that weekend, so presuming that's on Sky, I guess it depends what time that's on as to whether we can hope for a TV game. Unless BT pick it.
