Town Expecting 20,000 Crowd for Hull
Wednesday, 10th Apr 2013 13:53

Town are expecting a crowd of around 20,000 for Saturday’s match against Hull City with the club running a ticket promotion.

Ticket office manager John Ford told the club site: “It’s obviously a big game for both clubs and we should have a good crowd.

“We’re over the 18,500 mark already and Hull will be bringing around 700 fans. I’d expect us to be close to the 20,000 mark.”

Season ticket holders are able to buy up to four additional tickets at £10 each for adults, £8 for concessions and £3 for juniors.

Silver members are entitled to buy their ticket at £20 for an adult or £10 for a senior citizen, and can also purchase up to four additional tickets at £10, £8 or £3. Full details are on the club site here.

The Blues’ last home game, the 3-0 victory over Leeds, was watched by 20,402 supporters.

It is good but it could be a lot better. Please read my blog on the subject later today.

A decent ticket promotion whoohoo! I've read on the forum so many requests for this.

Pessimistic is right. Ten points out of 12 - I can't see why people are staying away.

Frankly I think 20k should be the norm - I was somewhat hoping we'd do a bit better than that from a ticket promotion. Almost two years ago to the day, I remember coming to Portman Road for our 2-1 win v Crystal Palace on 9 April 2011, and the ticket promotion that day drew over 24,000. Not sure where they've all gone.

Admittedly we're coming to what will hopefully be the last of 4 dreary years at Portman Road and the attendances have only been reflective of price and performances. But things are looking up now.

Maybe they should do an all over ticket promotion and not just for people who know season ticket holders. That would get more people through the gates

maybe we should just keep ticket prices down full stop or is that to obvious?

A bit disappointing considering the 20000 for the Leeds game at full prices.

These prices ought to fill the place?

The Birmingham game is Juniors for £1 so should get a decent attendance for that as well. Hopefully safe by then though and we can all enjoy a stress free afternoon in the spring sunshine.

Thought the part time arm chair so called Town fans would flock to the Hull game, Proper loyal fans don't need incentives to watch Town, get to portman Road and support the team week in week out.

@bluemikey100 Hope our gates are not "Titanic" - because that sank!

Good. Mick and his team deserve a good crowd. Next season, with mick at the helm, will see increased crowds.

The atmosphere at the Leeds game was one of the best at home this season. Hopefully the over 20k attendence this weekend can repeat that!

We also need to be mindful when comparing full price attendances on that day as leeds had 2000 fans, which is substantially higher than Hull have taken so far!

Swedes and Norwegians coming over for annual trip, so that's another 40 or so on the attendance!

20,000 is nothing to shout about. We need to be back in the 23k to 25k figures on a regular basis like the Bent Kuqi days when it was high 20k's

Its mainly thanks to TWTD that this promotion is advertised regularly. In my opinion the Club do not promote it enough and the EADT/Evening Star could help as well with regular reminders. PR has not been a plus point at ITFC over recent years.

StowTractorBoy - I agree, and their website is less than helpful, but thanks to TWTD we get all the info, news and updates we need. Cheers Phil.

We should of gone blanket reduction for all and packed the place out.

BlueVelvet - I agree we used to get 23k regularly under Joe Royle but that was because of all the premier League hangers on that had not yet lost interest at that stage.

I am old enough to remember the heady days of Bobby Robson when Ipswich really were worth watching. In those days our average crowds were only 17k - 19k even though we were one of the best teams in Europe, let alone England

Us fans going now, when we've been down there all season, are the core fans of this club. we would watch them even if they were in the Ridgeons league!

NITFC is right, back in Joe Royles time, the premier league wannabe's were still renewing their season tickets.

The nearest hint of success next season will see some of them come back and if we were to go up, they would all be back with their replica shirts.

But much as it pains me to say, the club needs them.
