West Ham Recall Henderson
Thursday, 21st Mar 2013 10:54

West Ham have recalled keeper Stephen Henderson from his loan with the Blues. The Irishman was due to remain at Portman Road until the end of the season.

The Hammers insisted on including a 24-hour recall clause in the 24-year-old's second loan spell of the season with the Blues.

The former Portsmouth man made 16 appearances for Town in his first spell between October and early January and another eight after rejoining in the final hours of the transfer window.

Henderson's departure leaves the Blues with Scott Loach, Arran Lee-Barrett and youngster Michael Crowe. Manager Mick McCarthy could choose to bring another keeper in on loan before next Thursday's loan deadline.

[Edit] West Ham's decision to recall Henderson comes after second-choice Raphael Spiegel broke a finger while training with the Swiss U21 squad.

What is the reason for this, I wonder ? Scott Loach has to embrace his chance ! Good luck to him !

Think all the recent clean sheets may have something to do with it.Shame though as no team has a better defensive record at the moment.
Will have to leave it to Mick to sort out gk position;but expect he used a few choice words when he heard!

Brendanward there is a difference between being lambasted by the North Stand than being criticised on this board. Who would not be shaky when your on fans throw abuse at you. Also now is not the ideal time to give Loach a chance to prove himself - he has had his chances and not been convincing. For those who say Henderson has not had shots to save of late what about all the crosses he has taken especially at the death when we have been hanging on. Sadly Loach is not capable of this - just ask the Watford fans. Good luck Scott if you are selected v. Leeds whoever plays for ITFC I will support but like all of us on here I am entitled to my opinion which makes this board so readable.

Bad news: never a good idea to disrupt the team when things are going well. I think bluemingood has probably got it right: We asked about buying him but baulked at the price, so Wet Sham threw a wobbly and called him back. C'mon Scott, now's your chance.

We cannot control these 24hr clauses unfortunately, it has happened before with Stockdale ? Jol calling him back,,also Alex McCarthy called back to Reading we are just unlucky with goalkeepers,, then we lost out on Camp, who has now got to get off the bench to do the buisness for those up the A140
So we have just got to get on with and hope it will not disrupt the team to much !!!!!
COYB you can do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a good keeper controls his area taking out crosses is a big part of it which eliminates the threat on goal Henderson does this reasonably well much better than some prem keepers i can think off Loach definatly doesn't he stops shots that's about it really

I think Mick will be on the case now, All this Loach is our own, better to have one of our than an excellent keeper like Hendo is bull, Mick obviously doesn't rate Loach otherwise he would not have bought Hendo back. Good luck Hendo, I hate wet spam even more now and their fat head manager.

Loach has to seize this chance to establish himself. I rate him and although he's not the finished article he has some very good attributes to his game.

He came here and hasn't made any bother vbeing usurped by Hendo apst right away and came back stronger for it the next chance he got. Hopefuly his professionalism will pay off and he will do well.

I didn't want Hendo at first but I'm fickle and he had done really well but we have to have faith in Loach. Luckily the keepers haven't been worked much in recent weeks thanks to the form of the lads at the back.

hes been recalled due to injury for those who havent read the sky report. wicked blue. the reason the defence been so good is they have confidence in the keeper behind them. that he will deal with crosses as henderson did on several occasions against bolton. something loach hasnt done in any game hes played. kellybblue. dont make the same mistake others make on here of thinking that because sl is a town fan that hes good enough. he wasnt 3rd choice at watford for no reason. but having said that, if he should play then he will get my full support. just hope mm does sign a better keeper before leeds game tho.

Never rated Henderson - he doesn't communicate much with his defence. Good at shot stopping but his distribution is poor. I want to see Loach given a fair crack behind what is now a solid defence.
So to be honest I was quite pleased. Come on Scott you are the better keeper - now prove it.

davidjbrooks. i agree that his distribution isnt always the best, but then, nor is loachs neither. the only area that loach even matches henderson is his shot stopping. in every other department henderson is the better keeper. the defence is solid now i agree, but that is partly due to them having confidence in the keeper they playing in front of. it really concerns me that the defence could once again fall apart if loach is playing behind them. woud be delighted if my concerns were proved to be unfounded but if not im afraid it could be the final nail in our coffin

Oh dear. This isn't good news. I am not a fan of loans, by any stretch, but Henderson has been a key part of a back 5 who have been very stingy in recent weeks ...

Agree however that playing our own players is the way forward, but I'm afraid I disagree with many on here re Loach. Okay he is an ITFC fan. Yes, he loves the club. BUT for me he is a below average keeper. Decent shot-stopper, but totally fails to control his area and poor in the air. ALB is worse.

Fully expect MM to bring in a replacement. Sorry to those who disagree with me, but am concerned with Loach.

First, this is the problem with loan players. I have described them before in comments on this site as "here today and gone tomorrow" and I'm afraid that this is simply another example. Their loyalty is, or should be, first and foremost to the club with their long-term contract. Relying on them is at best a short term fix. The other problem is that they stop our own lads from gaining experience.

For what it's worth, I'm with those who think that Loach should be given a run. I know that his first few games this season were marked by rather a lot of entries in the goals against column, but that was mainly down to the shambolic way that Mr Jewell "organised" the defence. I think that he has the ability and he needs a run in the team and the confidence that would come with it.

Got a feeling this is more to do with West Ham preparing for next season. JJ has been poor and is unlikely to be first choice next year. I reckon Big Sam wants a look at hendo to see if he is ready to be number one

Oh and I'd stick with Loach now, and wait until the summer boefre having another look at the GK situation. Loach is more than adequate

A shame as he has been very solid for us and paid a big part in getting us clean sheets. Mr loach now is your chance you are a very decent keeper on your day so prove it to us like you did against villa. Hopefully hendo will sign on perm in summer and then we will have two very strong gks to rely on.COYB!

Mick won't panic he will quietly go about his business and deal with the situation. As for loan recall could easily be one of our players and broken his leg. Recall no difference.
No point moaning and what iffing, just do our job and support mick tc and the guys.

What a turn round on here . No-one had a good word to say about Henderson earlier . Always was and still is better than Loach

Loach is a poor goalkeeper who was Watford's number 2.

We really are in a relegation battle now.

blues1 im glad you will support loach despite your doubts but i think you and some other people on here are really overestimating how good henderson is as i said earlier he is a bit just a bit better than loach.
The real truth is that the best keepers play for the top sides and the rest is a much of a muchness.are you really suggesting it is worth loaning another player who is not considered good enough for there own team because they will be so much better than loach it will make the differance. I also think blues1 that you are mistaken in thinking the back 4 will fall apart. They have left hendo with next to nothing to do anyway.
I rekon I would look half decent in goal with those boys in front of me.
Lets have a massive cheer for scott if and when he next plays at PR

Theres no doubt Hendersons 2nd spell this season has been far better than the first.

But Scott Loach hasnt done that much wrong this season, bar Cardiff at home he's done ok.

This is Loach's opportunity and I think he will be fine, calm down guys its going to be ok.

Its West Hams perogative to recall him, MM knew that we he re-signed him on loan.

I think Loach should be given a run of games, considering most of his early games he played were under Paul jewells reign when confidence was low. If he's been training hard to fight for a place he could end up 100 times better than what he was before. Plus he didn't do that bad a job when Henderson went back the first time.
