West Ham Recall Henderson
Thursday, 21st Mar 2013 10:54

West Ham have recalled keeper Stephen Henderson from his loan with the Blues. The Irishman was due to remain at Portman Road until the end of the season.

The Hammers insisted on including a 24-hour recall clause in the 24-year-old's second loan spell of the season with the Blues.

The former Portsmouth man made 16 appearances for Town in his first spell between October and early January and another eight after rejoining in the final hours of the transfer window.

Henderson's departure leaves the Blues with Scott Loach, Arran Lee-Barrett and youngster Michael Crowe. Manager Mick McCarthy could choose to bring another keeper in on loan before next Thursday's loan deadline.

[Edit] West Ham's decision to recall Henderson comes after second-choice Raphael Spiegel broke a finger while training with the Swiss U21 squad.

Loach was playing well before he got injured and Henderson returned, but Henderson has been on an excellent run with the other back four. It's a shame but at least Loach, OUR keeper gets a chance to prove himself again.

Now we're going down!
Henderson has to take a lot of credit for out recent points haul...

I wonder which relegation rival chucked Allardyce a few quid to recall the clean sheet machine...

I really fear for our status now, Loach is half the keeper Henderson is imo

Gutted to be honest, I know Henderson had his critics on here to start with, but he's got his head down and got on with things and done well.

Loach is good though, he'll be keen to impress.

Agree that i HOPE Loach will step up, just a shame as Hedo and the back four have been playing well and to disrupt that is never good, whether he is our keeper or not i have gone from being confident we will stay up to anxious once again.

At least we'll have someone in goal who is Ipswich through and through and not some one who tells his own fans to F*** Off after a game!(Huddersfield)

Loan keeper with a 24 hr recall. No point worrying about it.

Scott Loach - this is it. Make it count!

Could we sign another goalkeeper on loan? Next match isn't until next Saturday and would give someone enough time to settle in etc?

The clean sheets are more to the way the back four are playing than it is to Hendersoon. As for Pazele and his Loach is half the keeper well it just proves what a fool he is. Loach is as good as Henderson in some ways better as his distribution of the ball is better. I personally think we will be alright.

the answer is in the article :
"Manager Mick McCarthy could choose to bring another keeper in on loan before next Thursday's loan deadline."

I think loach has a much improved back line in front of him now and has potential- if he stays for we should be ok- added emphasis now on our midfield and attackers to figure out how to attack and execute- Particularly Nouble who's had some really good opportunities and just lacked the composure to put them away. I'm still confident we will be ok; Blackburn will likely slump into the bottom three with Bristol city and one other

Loach did just fine before Henderson came back in and he is our keeper not a loan. Loach is a really good keeper. My only worry is that Loach can get over-excited and make mistakes, Henderson was quite unflappable. Let's hope that he doesn't feel the pressure too perform too badly because it's getting to crunch time in the season and despite our upturn in form overr the last few months we still haven't managed to pull away from the bottom.

Pazelle I think you are spot on as Loach is not up to the mark and he is half the goalkeeper Henderson is. Henderson had a shaky start and was wrongly lambasted because he replaced a so called Ipswich fan in goal and did not leave Pompey for us.
How many crosses has Loach taken this season - I doubt it is a handfull whereas Henderson has on countless occasions taken the pressure off our defence. I am sorry I like Loach and admire his commitment to ITFC but in my opinion he is just not good enough especially for the predicament we are in. Mick is no mug and I am confident he will get another loan keeper in. If he doesn't I will really worry.
