McCarthy Confirms Brown Signing
Saturday, 23rd Feb 2013 17:45

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Manchester United defender Reece Brown is joining the Blues on loan, as TWTD reported last night.

McCarthy said: “Yes, we’ve taken him on loan and he joins us on Monday.”

The 21-year-old central defender, full-back or holding midfielder becomes the sixth domestic loanee at the club with only five permitted in a matchday squad.

stearman moves into central defence with chambers and hewitt (Our player) comes in for right back... done! we have kisnorbo for central defensive cover.. and carlos can always drop back to RB if absolute deperate... Only if we are seriously going to take him on next season does this loan make sense?

As Mick keeps saying he wants to see Hyam's forward thinking side more he is thinking of pushing him up the park a bit more and dropping N'Daw. I for one am in favour of this as he has been nothing but useless recently

Youudiots that's my take on it. Also as ndaw has been pretty poor lately maybe mick is looking for a longer term option in that position and won't offer him a contract. This guy is young and could be a great long term prospect, certainly he has the genes

......think that the actual point on this thread has been totally missed.....we acknowledge that we need loan signings in the team but we also need better loan signings than have previously been willing/able to want to come to our club.....perhaps mm and TC are building contacts and relationships that show we are willing to develop other clubs younger players so they trust us when we need more loan signings......giving us better quality and attracting more permanent signings if they eventually don't break into their clubs first team......loan players from the championship or non league against loan players from man united, man city ,arsenal or Liverpool .......I know what I would take but perhaps others are more interested in stagnating...(relationships take time to build and only seconds/one example to destroy)..welcome to the club Reece tell your mates about how good the core of the club is and invite them to join you...COYB

@bluelady that's what I meant.... N'Daw has been chasing shadows and his passing has been utter rubbish.

Look at Ipswich loans then look at Watford say no more they have a manager and a board who know what they are doing we unfortunately have not Jewell and McCarthy are useless at bringing in loans.
Keane although not a great manager brought in Di Santos,Rosenior and Begovic they were good players what we have now are crap.

Without being quite so insulting I wonder, not for the first time. In my life bluey123, why you follow football at all. You are a big helium balloon of negativity, with a big unhappy face on it. I fear for your personal wellbeing and really think you might choose another hobby, something that can bring you some pleasure once in a while, something in which everyone and everything is not cr*p

All i can hope and pray is that he comes straight in for N'daw and he's able to make more intelligent forward passes! If he can do that, it's a plus and a good move.

N'Daw has to be dropped. We can see it, MM must be able to. This has to be the reason Brown has come in. What other explanation is there? He'll have to replace a loanee as well.

For Stearman? No
For Tommy? No
For Chambers? No
For Hewitt? No
For Drury? No
For Kisnorbo? Why?

I think he'll come straight in for N'Daw and there will be a shift around on the bench between Mclean, Kisnorbo and N'Daw. Has to be...

And MM we don't need defenders

N'Daw has better and poorer games, but I don't think that "we can all see" that he needs to be dropped. He's given some excellent performances I think. And some apparently nondescript ones, but remember that some players do a lot of work that the fans don't necessarily see, but the management does. I rather think that he falls into that category. But I might be wrong. Anyway, in Mick we trust eh?

We do seem to be "Loanville Road" at the moment.
Maybe it's the changing nature of all clubs....
The Premier League leftovers go to the Championship Clubs, The Championship Clubs leftovers go to League 1, League 1 leftovers to League 2 and so on.
So really every side in the Championship is an amalgamation of a few home grown players and loans....
Tired of the "In Mick we trust" posts. Yes, he is doing a good job but like any human being he is going to make mistakes. Right now he's probably looking at Scotland and Barnsley and thinking "Hmmm..may have made a mistake there".
If Scotland had been young (like Jordan Rhodes) then it would have been a much greater mistake.
Let's all watch this lad and see what he can give us. Mick hasn't brought him in for no reason. Maybe he is a better centre half than Chambers or Smith? Who knows until we see him play....
I haven't seen McLean play yet. Is he any good??

N'Daw was our best player against Blackpool. Won everything, broke up play and played several decent forward balls, most notably the one Chopra finished. Yes, he's not a pretty footballer, but neither is he the donkey that many of you make out. In a side which is scraping together points through sheer hard work, he is an important cog in the machine.

My take on this signing is Mick knows that clean sheets are our ticket to Championship football this season. He is playing to our strengths and this lad appears to be cover for Hyam and N'Daw. Lets not forget that Hyam is far from a natural athlete and has struggled to maintain his fitness throughout his career so far. Don't be surprised if he drops to the bench (Mick doesn't appear to rate Drury).

Decent cover across the back line I suppose BUT it's going forward that things need shaking up..we need creativity and someone who knows how to put the ball in the net.

Souperjim - are you kidding me!!!? Best player against blackpool!?
What game were you watching? His pass for the goal was a punt upfield as he was under pressure, nothing more. There was no finesse or vision in it.

Hyam was far superior than N'Daw as were Tommy and Luke so not have to disagree with you!

SouperJim added 18:44 - Feb 24
I suggest you watch the goal again, he sees the opportunity to break as we win back the ball, looks up, the ball sits up and he plays it over the top sidefoot.

I was watching the game where every Tom Dick and Harry said we had to attack Blackpool, meet them head on and play Drury or Wordy in an attacking midfield role, or we would get battered. Mick lined us up with two solid banks of 4, we soaked up the pressure and N'Daw threaded 3 or 4 decent balls through to the strikers, one of which Chopra finished.

"Ipswich fans" will never be happy with our current style of football, or "ugly" players like N'Daw. The fact remains, Merlin knows what is our best shot at survival and it's not abandoning the solid platform we have built for a reckless shot at becoming the next Barcelona overnight.

why? we have had the same back four since bradley orr left can't see the point unless he's going to move cresswell to left side of midfield

Parking the bus isn't going to score the goals we need to win matches...

Keaneish added 21:29 - Feb 24
I've watched it again souperjim and I stand by my original thought. A punt upfield as he's under pressure. Yes he's probably been tasked with playing longer balls at present but he hasn't got the attributes in his locker to do too much else.

bluelady added 05:15 - Feb 25
Keanish I think my biggest issue is his recent inability to pass the ball to someone in a blue shirt! Shocking distribution and a shame as he was playing well.... His endeavour and tackling can't be folded how he then delivers that ball bothers me. If Kane can be the dm to take the ball from our keeper and bring it up pitch I'm happy
