West Ham Set to Recall Henderson
Thursday, 10th Jan 2013 12:26

TWTD understands West Ham are set to recall keeper Stephen Henderson from his loan at Town prior to the final game of his spell away at Cardiff on Saturday. The Irishman’s three-month loan deal includes a 24-hour recall clause.

Henderson’s exit would see Scott Loach keep his place in the side for the trip to Wales, the former Watford man having made his first appearance under Mick McCarthy’s management at Aston Villa last week.

Blues boss McCarthy has previously said he’d like to keep Henderson at Portman Road beyond the end of his spell, while having misgivings about the inclusion of a recall clause, while the 24-year-old has said he’d been interested in remaining at Portman Road.

And the problem with this is?
Don't get me wrong, Henderson is ok, but so is Loach. ALB is ok on his day. In fact Loach was pretty good for Villa some of his saves were top drawer. managers can't say they want players to fight for their places and then not reward good performances.

Don't think the he is the answer for us. Loach is a blue and as at the same level imo. Will be interested to see who /if MM goes after another No1 or just a cover keeper. i expect the former.

Thanks for everything.

Now it's time for Loachy to step up and claim the first team spot.

Although it seems MM has the connections to sign a replacement quickly I hope Loach (and ALB) can demonstrate there's no urgency.

I'd give Loach a couple of games more to prove himself rather than panic buying now! COYB!

Looking forward to having Loach starting again. He has the passion.

My thanks to Henderson for his efforts. I didn't warm to him originally due to his comments about wanting to get into West Ham's first team and early poor performances, but he improved a lot and made important saves so it was a decent loan spell. However, he didn't do so well that I would want him permanently, especially if he's on Premier League wages with West Ham, who I expect would want fee for a player they signed for free in the summer (like Wolves did with Nouble!).

Over to Mick McCarthy to find us a new keeper to compete with Loach.

Loach is the better keeper, he can kick the ball and catch it unlike Hendo. Not fussed at all

After the Aston Villa match last week it would have been unfair on Scott Loach to have been dropped so perhaps this is for the best if Henderson gets recalled.

Bye bye Hendo! Never rated him as keeper, I'm glad he's gone.
Either stick with the local boy Loach or let's go find a really decent little keeper from the lower leagues. Either way I think we'll be fine.

I guess everything must come to a Hendo. Give Loacho a chance rather than another loanee.

I don't have a major problem with this, as we have Loach. But it seems a strange decision from a West ham point of view, as the have no keeper issues and there was only one game left for Henderson here anyway!

Loach probs deserved to keep his place based on reports from the Villa match, but, I don't get all the negativity towards Henderson on here, he's been integral to our recent upturn in form, we should thank him for his efforts. I understand people wanting it to work for Loach as he is a fan but don't let this hide the fact he has been indifferent for us, passion whilst always more than welcome doesn't make up for ability in my opinion, I hope Loach recaptures his previous form from 3 years ago but in honesty he came with the blessing of Watford fans for a reason. Hopefully time out of the limelight will have benefitted his game and he comes back with hunger, determination and new found confidence and I wish him well.

Good job Fenboyblue, i well introduced pun.

I for one wasnt a fan of Lenderson (See what i did there?) but he has played well enough over the last few months. I agree with the majority of the comment on here that id say thanks for yuor work but it will be good to see Scotty have another go between the sticks.

Hopefully he can build on a confidence boosting performance at Villa. Also you may have heard but he is a blue so thats always nice haha. COYB

Good - we need to free up more spaces in the squad for strikers, I think we need at least twelve strikers if not more for cover and competition....

Never really liked him anyway plus Loach and ALB are more than good enough to step in as number 1 and 2. Wonder if we'll try and sign a new 'keeper or not?

Lenderson. I did see what you did there. Oh that's good work, gazzmac4.

No great loss. A pointless signing really. Having said that I don't rate Loach - although he is certainly no worse than Henderson.

You wait and see Loach is just as poor if not worse. Watford's number 2.

Henderson is below the standard of a number one goalkeeper for Ipswich Town I have said before he is no good at crosses coming into the box. If the club wants to push for promotion next year we have to invest on a goalkeeper who does the basics well, who we get? I have not got a clue.
