Kisnorbo Joins On Loan
Thursday, 3rd Jan 2013 12:06

Town have signed Australian central defender Patrick Kisnorbo on loan from Leeds until January 29th. The 31-year-old former Leicester man is available for Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie at Aston Villa.

Kisnorbo began his senior career with hometown club South Melbourne, joining Hearts in 2005. After two years in Scotland he moved on to Leicester, where he spent the following four seasons, partnering ex-Blue Gareth McAuley at the heart of the Foxes' defence before his departure for Portman Road.

Capped 18 times by Australia, scoring once, the 6ft 2in tall centre-half has made only one Capital One Cup appearance for the Whites this season.

Town were in need of an additional central defender after Danny Higginbotham joined Sheffield United from Stoke at the end of his loan spell. Kisnorbo will wear the number six shirt while with the Blues.

If he's fit, great cover signing.

Welcome. Sensible signing as we need cover. A win win situtation really. If MM not impressed we all move on.

I'm not a fan of loans, but a refreshing change from the 'let's release one of our three CB's and not bring anyone else in' approach from the previous manager. MM obviously acts quickly to ensure we have ample cover. Good stuff.

Only one problem - he is absolutely useless. Leicester couldn't believe their luck when they offloaded him.

The key here is Mick realises were down to 2 senior centre backs and has reacted promptly, something his predecessor failed to do. I'm assuming by the timing the loan ends, that if we like him we could do a permanent deal before the window shuts.

I think it's a brilliant acquisition as McCarthy had has bought himself the whole month to find the perfect centre back cover, while not being exposed in that time! COYB

Seems a reasonable signing, we have cover instantly throughout January. Guess the loan could be extended during January too, should he perform, so we've not tied ourselves up.

I wonder, with the signing of this australian international, Town will see an improvement in our form, both Home and Away

FifeBlue: I am not disagreeing with you because I don't know, but, how come he was voted player of the year at Leicester for a couple of years in a row - and quite recently?

good player who would proberbly be happy with a rotation/backup role.there is no point having 4 defenders who would all expect to play every game.chambers and smith are the main pair in their prime so signing kisnorbo and maybe get another lower division up and coming defender from the lower leagues would provide good balance at the back

I don't know enough about the lad to say whether this is a good acquisition or not, but I am willing to bet he was the best that MM could get at his moment.

You have to accept that this is a big improvement in the way Town are doing things now. Higginbotham out, in comes replacement, all within a couple of days.

I would rather this than being linked with everyone from Vincent Kompany to John Terry and end up with a last minute panic buy as the window closes.

no short term loans not whilst i'm at this club MM will soon realise the board won't back him in any of his transfer dealings just like they did'nt with PJ and RK i'm not saying he is a bad short term signing but doesn't bode well for any future signings but i lost count of how many times we agreed fee's with clubs and then failed when it came to personal terms with the players.

There's talk of links with Watford Midfielder Jonathan Hogg and Man Utd striker Nick Powell, although the latter is also heavily linked with Peterborough
