Mings Signs
Thursday, 13th Dec 2012 17:02

Defender Tyrone Mings has tweeted a photo of himself signing an 18-month contract with Town. The 19-year-old joins from non-league Chippenham Town, TWTD having revealed that the Blues were close to adding the former Southampton academy player to their squad yesterday.

Clearly chuffed to have put pen to paper on a professional deal he added: "This is for everyone who laughed when I said I wanted to be a footballer or said I wouldn't make it."

Mings impressed Blues boss Mick McCarthy during a trial game for Town at Playford Road on Monday.

The deal between the two clubs is believed to include a pre-season friendly between the sides at Chippenham.

Has anyone seen this guy before he obviously isn't bad if we have signed him. but i have never seen any press about him. glad we have kept this one under the covers.

Cant keep signing these young players building a team ! We are not used to this planning for the future and improving the competition for players ! It is time we went back to the days of getting shot of the young players ( as RK ) and got some old experienced players ( as PJ ) to stay stagnating for a few more years !

"Obviously isn't bad if we have signed him"................really? Have you so soon forgotten some of the gems of yesteryear, some almost yesterday.

Anyway, welcome and good luck Minge, get off Twitter and do your talking on the pitch.

No i haven't forgot past gems. I was asking if anyone has seen him and if he is any good we wouldn't go signing any player for a laugh on the off chance he would be good so obviously
he isn't bad if we have signed him.

Very surprised we've signed someone like this because it's been a long time since we bought a non league player! Hopefully turns out good for us in the years to come. One Tyrone out, another Tyrone in!

...... re-building continues - can only be good for the future.

Great to see youngsters coming in again - instead of letting potential gems leave for nothing, and someone else to benefit from.
Lets keep it up - that's how we were 'once a great, and successful Club'.

Let's bring it all back !

great to see the club looking elsewhere than premier players at the end of their careers . this is more like the old ipswich way , there's some gems out there with ambition , MM has started on a long term plan to move this club forward .
