Cresswell in Team of the Week
Tuesday, 4th Dec 2012 09:46

Town left-back Aaron Cresswell has been named in this week’s Football League Team of the Week, the first Blues player to be included in the Championship select XI this season.

Striker Daryl Murphy was the last Town player to be named in the Team of the Week back in April.

Team of the Week: Paul Robinson (Blackburn), Joel Ward (Crystal Palace), Aaron Cresswell (Town), Zak Whitbread (Leicester), Paul McShane (Hull City), Michael Tonge (Leeds), Stephen Quinn (Hull City), Bjorn Sigurdarson (Wolves), Thomas Ince (Blackpool), Troy Deeney (Watford), Kevin Doyle (Wolves).

I'd forgotten that there was a team of the week so rarely did our players feature... Great to see that changing, looking forward to seeing more of our squad in it more regularly.

Wow. There are at least two players in that team we haven't been linked with recently. The rumour mill must catch up ;)

Delighted to see Aaron Cresswell playing well again (we were all concerned about his drop in form.....until it was revived under MM's management).

Under poor old PJ, so many players arrived at ITFC with good reputations, then did not live up to them.

It's hard to believe that the turnround in our fortunes has been so sudden......but it's early days (although I'm confident that at least we shall not be fighting a relegation battle at the end of the season).

What value then on the TWTD player rating's?! According to us he was our second worst player on the day. Do we all watch the same game?
Has to be said though, that on his day he can be as good as anyone in the championship and can be a mean crosser of the ball.

Don't know where they get this from... I'm not his biggest fan, but I want him to do well, and he was okay at best at Bolton. Maybe all the other LBs in the division had a poor game? Once or twice he wasted crosses or failed to deliver the ball into the box when he should have. The team was better served by the right hand side in the main. Of course, full backs don't actually tackle these days (yes, I do sound like an old git).

Great to see a Town player in 'team of the week', but now doubt the validity and selection process.

Nice if it gives him a confidence boost, but the team of the week is utter pony. For the most part they just randomly select players from teams who had a good result that week.

Thought he was fantastic against Forest, but wasn't at Bolton so can't comment. There's definitely still a very good player in there somewhere. Does need to be more consistent with crosses though.

Hope he proves the critics wrong.

Is this for the Bolton match only, or Forest too? Like Huntersecondball I noticed he came second bottom in the TWTD player ratings for the Bolton game, which I thought was harsh. Bolton's goal came from the right, where they consistently threatened throughout the first half. And both Ipswich's goals came from moves down the left. I sometimes wonder if folk on here get caught up in the hype rather than the reality.

I don't see the point in slating young players like Cressy and Tommy Smith when we've had so many journeymen more deserving of criticism. He's a talent for sure and we've been short of them at FB for some time now!

Really well done son! He was without doubt off colour at the start of the season (then again who wasnt!!) but has played really well the last month or so.

Wish him all the best as think he's a really good player and one we need to keep hold of as long as possible.

Not quite sure how he managed that (don't mean to sound against the fella) but saw the ratings for him on here and on EADT and The Sun (for what it's worth) and he was by far not our best player on Saturday, anybody see the match and can comment?
Saying that might boost his confidence, saw him against Posh and thougth he looked nervy 1st half and quiet the 2nd - but hey ho what do I know!

TimmyH - I went and he had an ok game. Prepared to get forward and always screaming for the ball out wide.
