Ellington Set for Scunthorpe
Thursday, 15th Nov 2012 20:10

TWTD understands that out-of-favour striker Nathan Ellington is set to join League One Scunthorpe United on loan. The 31-year-old has made only two sub appearances for Town so far this season.

Ellington, who was interesting his former club Bristol Rovers and Notts County in the summer, is still to score his first goal for the Blues having had few opportunities since joining on a free transfer after leaving Watford in the summer of 2011.

In total, the Bradford-born striker, who we understand will move for an initial month, has made only three starts for Town — just one in the league — in addition to 16 sub appearances. His Town contract is up in the summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong’s proposed loan switch to Wolves has broken down, apparently due to the 20-year-old’s lack of fitness.

Frimpong, who has also been linked with a reunion with former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy at Town, suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury while on loan at Molineux last season.

Wolves reportedly may now wait until January before bringing him back in with the emergency loan deadline next Thursday.

He has had his chances for town and did not take them and he is getting toward the end of is career in the top leagues.
If he drop down a few leagues he would do a good job for somebody.
Thanks for what you did do for town and good luck in the future.
You seem quite a nice guy and never been any trouble at all and never moaned about not being picked to play.
Maybe have a go at coaching you have the right attitude for it.

Sorry but a complete waste of money as I suspect he was on mates rates salary when PJ signed him. Had plenty of chances to prove himself and sadly failed. Mick is certainly sorting the chaff from the wheat.

I think it's good that MM is getting players who are not in the squad out and off the wage bill, I just think it's a shame we didn't get to see more of Ellington.

Good luck at Scunny anyways!

Whilst he seemed not to get a look in, did he put in a shift for the reserves? Did he score goals or provide assists in the games he played in training and reserves enough to get noticed?
He has had two managers here and the answer is still no.
He may turn it round at Scunthorpe and come back like Martin did.... But I for one doubt it.

My word McCarthy is our saviour!!

Within two weeks we've got 2 wins, Edwards is in midfield and Ellington out the door! What next?!

H32, could not have put it better myself. At last we have a proper no nonsense manager who is sorting out the wheat from the chaff. There is a long way to go, but at least there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. COYB.

Good luck to the Duke. Surely he was worth the chance on a free? Lets get behind everyone and stop slating those that haven't worked out.

Nice and decent guy, maybe lost his ruthless streak in front of goal that he clearly had in his early career. No lack of effort when he played but needed some continuity and time to forge a partnership. With poor reserve league and PJ philopshy of 1 up front and chopping and changing it was never going to happen for Nathan. Doesn't deserve the stick he is getting - I hope all goes well for him at Scunthorpe.

Had a chance but maybe a loan will get him going again. Can't understand why it hasn't happened before but then that applies to many of PJ's decisions.

Michael99 - Hmmm - 'Should of been praying'!! A/ Correct English is 'should have been praying' so before you take the p&ss sort your own act out and B/ Save that ignorant c&£p for the playground. Good player or not his beliefs do not deserve ridicule.

The Duke was well worth signing on a free as contrary to some posts on here he was a great striker with proven ability. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out for him albeit he shows great touch and movement goals have dried up. All the best with your new club.
