Ellington Set for Scunthorpe
Thursday, 15th Nov 2012 20:10

TWTD understands that out-of-favour striker Nathan Ellington is set to join League One Scunthorpe United on loan. The 31-year-old has made only two sub appearances for Town so far this season.

Ellington, who was interesting his former club Bristol Rovers and Notts County in the summer, is still to score his first goal for the Blues having had few opportunities since joining on a free transfer after leaving Watford in the summer of 2011.

In total, the Bradford-born striker, who we understand will move for an initial month, has made only three starts for Town — just one in the league — in addition to 16 sub appearances. His Town contract is up in the summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong’s proposed loan switch to Wolves has broken down, apparently due to the 20-year-old’s lack of fitness.

Frimpong, who has also been linked with a reunion with former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy at Town, suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury while on loan at Molineux last season.

Wolves reportedly may now wait until January before bringing him back in with the emergency loan deadline next Thursday.

Been an absolute disaster!

He is one of the players who let pj down in a big way in my opinion.

He's finished, bye!

Shame it didn't work out, didn't get too much chance, and the one time he looks like he may hit form, he's dropped. Nice guy, not a great player

Poor signing, especially considering that he got two years, but I also think PJ didn't give him enough of a chance.

And actually whenever I saw him he looked okay, certainly not the completely useless lump so many described him as.

He was proof Jewell didn't have a clue what he was trying to achieve.

Town's first Muslim player?–or am I forgetting someone?

was a poor signing, all the best but was never going to do anything for us at this level.
for all those suggesting he never had a chance hard work in training and reserve/u21 games would've got him noticed if he was good enough.

Well said casanovacrow, pj took a punt on him and unfortunately it just didnt work out, he looked ordinary at best.

Will have a tenner with anyone here who thinks he is going to go somewhere and score 30 odd goals at this level because he hasnt done that for over 10 years!

Hardly can be classed as a waste of money, this former 3-4million rated player was well worth a punt on a free, scored 59 goals in 134 games for wigan under pj,aged 21-24yrs old, dunno what happened to him maybe he felt guilty played mid afternoon when he should of been praying?

All very well to say he hasn't had a chance, which to some degree I would agree with. BUT we have a new Manager now, and Ellington must have had a chance to impress him in training etc; just like everyone else has.

Just a journeyman is Ellington - no more no less - who can still do a good job if he puts his mind to it.

McCarthy will sort out the ones who can't / won't work hard enough - more casualties to come (mentioning no names) sooner rather than later I suspect, if attitudes aren't right - and rightly so to.

No sh#t McCarthy is here now - and will mean business - which can only be of benefit to the entire Club. Bring it on, I say.

COYB.

Any chance he will take that other waste of money Chopra with him

..... AND going on loan to Scunthorpe stills gives him the opportunity to impress McCarthy - if he chooses to take it !!

Summed Jewell up in my opinion. Hoped the past would somehow be recreated. But alas poor Yoric, we knew him (not very) well.
