Smith and N'Daw Start
Saturday, 10th Nov 2012 14:39

Central defender Tommy Smith is handed his first start of the Mick McCarthy era as the new Blues boss goes into his first home game as Town manager. Midfielder Guirane N’Daw also returns to the XI with Lee Martin suspended and Andy Drury dropping to the bench.

Smith’s inclusion is likely to see Aaron Cresswell move to left midfield as he did late on at Crystal Palace on Tuesday with the New Zealand international at left-back.

Alternatively, Luke Chambers could move to right-back and skipper Carlos Edwards into wide midfield.

Elsewhere, Daryl Murphy is likely to move up front alongside DJ Campbell, while Elliott Hewitt is on the bench for the senior side for the first time. Burnley make one change at left-back with Danny Lafferty coming in for Ben Mee, who has a foot injury. Full match preview here.

Town: Henderson, Edwards, Chambers, Higginbotham, Smith, Cresswell, Reo-Coker, Wellens, N'Daw, Murphy, Campbell. Subs: Loach, Hewitt, Emmanuel-Thomas, Drury, Mohsni, Scotland, Chopra.

Burnley: Grant, Lafferty, Shackell, Duff, Trippier, Stock, Marney, McCann, Wallace, Paterson, Austin. Subs: Jensen, Edgar, Ings, Vokes, Bartley, Stanislas, Mills.

Nice to see Tommy getting a start after a bit of a break but anybody know why Hyam isn't even in the squad?

Late on against Palace, Cresswell and Edwards were wingbacks, not midfielders.

Wonderful much needed result!!!! Listening to the commentary ,the balance of the team seemed to work better. So pleased that Carlos has returned to a position where he is more effective.Let's hope we can build on this and it's nice to see that we have climbed a couple of places up the table.
N 'Daw seems to make a difference and I look forward to the next home match which I shall attend .Keep the faith!! I am confident that Mick will make our team good again .

Just love your optimism kerryblue! Anyway, great result. One win in the first 13. Two wins in the last three. Says it all.
So psychologically important to be off the bottom.

Great win, much needed..we're within touching distance of safety now..Mick's already doubled our win tally in a week and almost doubled our points tally too!

Also good to see Mick's taken just 2 games to realise that Edwards is not a defender!..what on earth Jewell was thinking playing him at RB for 22 months is beyond me.
