Luongo in Action For Tottenham's U21s
Saturday, 3rd Nov 2012 22:18

Loan midfielder Massimo Luongo was in action for his parent club Tottenham's U21s again this morning and helped them to a 6-0 home victory over Newcastle United.

The Australian was in action for the Premier League club's academy side last week, helping them to a 4-2 victory over Manchester United.

Luongo was left out of the Town squad which travelled to Birmingham today as the Blues are only permitted to include five of their six domestic loanees in a matchday 18.

Why is he still here? If he isn't gonna play why are we paying his wages for him to play for his parent club Tottenham is it just me or are others baffled by this!!?

is he on loan or isn't he? the loan system is a joke and one that you need a QC to undestand.

He is a good player and here for the season, but he just needs to make his way onto MM's radar. That shouldn't take long.

Dissboyitfc - Be fair. Word is that it was on Klug's recommendation he was signed. Besides, nothing needs sorting out on Luongo. He just needs to have another chance in a winning team at some point, rather than a side where just about everyone was struggling, and ones where PJ seemed to have lost any idea of his best 11, and chopped and changed the team ad nauseum.

HuddyBullard - we aren't paying any wages or fee, but the bite in that was this clause from Spurs to use him in U21 games if he wasn't picked

Seems sensible all round and with Wellens likely to be gone on Tuesday he'll be back in the squad

TractorMan- id be really suprised if we werent paying any contribution of his wages to spurs. and my point being if he isnt gonna play for us and still play for spurs is he any better than hyam?

AS others have said, once he is on MM radar I think he will get his place back. However, for the next few games, until we climb the table, MM will be fielding a sides containing his more experienced players. Hence no Carson or Hyam yesterday

Hyam and Luongo are very different players and seeing both play, Luongo is clearly the better technically too.

We definitely aren't paying a penny and that is why this arrangement is in place, which reduced risk for us on a player and protected Tottenhams interests.

After a positive start to the season from him it seems ridicoulous that we are not playing him, send henderson back and play massimo

An odd situation but I feel he was a victim of the sour end to the Jewell era. Started the season fairly well then one mistake and he's dropped. If Mick was in charge I'd imagine the whole thing would of been dealt with more professionally. he probably would have tried to boost his confidence or had a conversation with the player to tell him where he needs to improve. The Championship is a long, drawn out season and perhaps if we cant renew loans or Reo-Coker he may get a chance to impress and still be a more than handy player for us.

62wasbest... merely saying that There are many tasks ahead for MM and sorting out the loan players signed and still here from Jewells era, is amongst those tasks. I for one, really rated Luongo and feel that he should be here if we are paying his wages or send him back if we dont intend to use him....coyb

Thought league rules said you have to pay min of 25% of his wages?
Better for him and us to be playing some game rather than at hime watching sky sports with PJ as a pundit
