Town Can Climb Table Saturday, 29th Sep 2012 06:02 Loan capture Danny Higginbotham is adamant that Ipswich can put their miserable start to the current campaign behind them and climb the Championship table. The 33-year-old Stoke defender is at Portman Road for a month and will be disappointed if Town’s results don’t improve in that time. He said: “I’m not coming here to change everything — no one person can do that — but as an older player I can add some experience. “From what I have seen there is great potential here and I think the club can go on a good run. I’ve always believed throughout my career that if you’re not scoring goals it’s a team thing and it’s the same with conceding. “If you’re a defender you will go forward for set pieces hoping to score goals. Defensively, some of the best headers of a ball are your centre-forwards, and I’m thinking of people like Alan Shearer and Drogba at Chelsea. “You want to score goals as a team and you want to defend as a team, and I’m sure we can do that.” Higginbotham has played a number of games throughout his career as a left-back but is more likely to be deployed as a central defender during his time at Portman Road. He added: “I do see myself as a centre-half now. If an emergency came about and I was needed at left-back of course I’ll do that but if you ask any player they all have a position they prefer and they feel more comfortable in.”
