Higginbotham Joins On Loan
Friday, 21st Sep 2012 18:05

Stoke's Danny Higginbotham has joined the Blues on a one-month loan. TWTD reported that the 33-year-old was on Town boss Paul Jewell's wish-list of potential additions a fortnight ago.

Jewell said: “We have been trying to add to our options at the back for a while and Danny has been on our radar through the summer.

“He will bring a wealth of experience to the squad and we’re obviously delighted to have him with us.”

Jewell confirmed in January that he had tried to sign the one-time Derby, Southampton and Sunderland man on loan during that transfer window prior to him joining Nottingham Forest on a similar spell.

The 6ft 1in tall former Manchester United trainee will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's game at home to Charlton.

Last throw of dice from jewell then the one month deal says he's been giving a month with key games coming up see how it goes think he needs 3 wins from next 5 if not pj and new loanne will be gone after that month
Best of luck though Danny hopefully do a good job for us!!

welcome Danny although i think your stay will be brief.

Signing does smack of desperation, although lets give credit to PJ and Clegg some credit for getting it over the line. From a negative viewpoint it is a loanee, for the very short term, with little or no future at the club and just the reason why PJ has become so unpopular - where is the plan?

PJ must know that letting Delaney go, was suicide.

Good luck to the boys tomorrow but my seats will be empty as this is the best way I can protest.

After delaney left jewell basically said he had no prob him going as he didnt want to be here. If thats the case there was no need or point in keeping him. This new guy is decent , if match fit.

Well, that wasn't too hard was it. An experienced player from a Prem side. Lawdy, lawdy. Straight in the side tomorrow - preferably for Smith. Let's get behind him.

He obviously only wanted to come for a month because he has been told the fans are rubbish and do nothing but moan and as Chopra said no nothing about football!!!!!

Him and Chambers were together at Forest so hope they gel and do us a good turn for at least a month and get the club back on a winning run.

Good luck tomorrow Danny, prove the moaners wrong!

He was relegated with Derby County then moved to Southampton and also got relegated with them so he has the right pedigree, but joking aside he is better than Smith but A MONTH? am I missing something?

Why oh why didn't we spend £2m on a centre back rather than yet another attacker (Taylor). Hello Mr Jewell, scoring goals was not our problem last season, is anyone there? I think this team would be promoted:

Loach
Carlos A Decent CB B Decent CB Cresswell
Jet Hyam Drury Murphy
Martin
Chopra

Ie, combine the attacking team that won four on the spin in Feb scoring 12 in the process (then Jewell abandoned for no reason) with two decent CBs.

The only improvement this season is in goal, other than that we've gone backwards.

might as well have kept dealney foe a few weeks then given him to palace on loan when we were sorted. at least delaney was fit, new his team mates and wouldn't have cost so much.

No, don't just give Tommy Smith a rest. These young players are never going to improve if we keep dropping them.

@runningout

And what are you basing that on?? Reserve judgement Until after the match tomorrow, then moan if he has a howler. Until then, shut up & give the guy a chance. That goes for the rest of the moaners too.

Pity it's only for a month, let's hope we play well tomorrow and get the three points COYB.

some of the people on here just love to moan don't they? welcome the new guy on board, and support the team. if all you care about is winning every game go support man united or chelsea or barca. We haven't actually been playing that badly this season, i.e. we have been entertaining to watch, which is massive improvement from the keane era. we were the better team against wolves but still lost due to an individual error and a goal out of nowhere. As someone already mentioned Tommy smith had a good game other than the own goal. get a grip.
