Loach Signing Confirmed
Loach Signing Confirmed
Thursday, 19th Jul 2012 15:56

Town have confirmed the signing of Watford keeper Scott Loach on a three-year deal with the option of a further year. The Blues agreed a fee of £150,000 with the Hornets earlier in the week with the 24-year-old undergoing a Portman Road medical last night.

Loach has made no secret of his desire to play for the club, having played for the academy as a schoolboy before moving on to the Nottingham Forest, Chesterfield and Lincoln City youth set-ups.

Speaking to the Town programme when the Blues played the Hornets last season, the former England U21 international said: "I've always been an Ipswich supporter and it is here where my goalkeeping education started, so I will always be thankful to the club for that."

Phil,

All the other reports I've read, including on the club website, state the fee as undisclosed. Can you confirm it is £150,000? Ta.

Welcome home! Im liking this pre season so far, 3 (4 if you count cheick), and can potentially sign those 2 French kids, the gk we have on trial and another striker and we're sorted. Can't wait for the season to start now! COYB!

Very pleased that PJ has finally signed a permanent GK - hopefully someone who will be between the sticks regularly for many years to come. I wish Scott all the very best and hope he recovers some of his earlier form - rather than the very poor showings for Watford last year. Building a team from the back is crucial - and whatever people say on here - has been my main concern since PJ took over. It's taken too long in my opinion and even PJ admitted the loanee GK situation didn't work out.

Hopefully a good signing - with at least 3 or 4 more to come.

Paul Jewell says he wanted to sign him when he first came to Town too, but Watford wanted a fee in the millions, so I'm glad Jewell hasn't given up on what he obviously has felt has been the right choice all along and finally got his man.

Some nice subtle changes to our squad, it didn't need an overhaul, just a few key positions.

Quietly confident.

Official site has updated contract details: three-year deal with option of an additional year.

Really pleased with this signing. The loan carousel at keeper last season didn't do the backline any favors. Loach is young, talented, but with a point to prove.
