Released Blues keeper Cody Cropper is training with MLS side the Seattle Sounders back in his native US.

In April, Cropper, 19, was told he would not be kept on by Town once his contract is up at the end of June.

Maybe says that he's not as good as people seemed to think or surely he would have ended up with a club back here. I think that simply means he has had no offers from any clubs in this country, as before when he came to us after several trials with other teams.
Only time will tell, if he shows up over here with a top club in 5 years time then we were wrong, somehow I suspect not.

buryblue you are making up stories on a subject you know nothing about. Why do people assume cropper is not good enough and has had no offers from other clubs,What make's you think that?. He is training to keep match fit, Do not forget he will be playing for the under 21 USA International Team next week in Chili, Tough game's,not Club game's either.I am sure we may hear some news regarding other interested clubs when he gets back? may be then that will keep the doubters quiet.

tellitasiseeit, if he had serious options over here then why would he need to go back to USA just to train? There are plenty of out of contract players who train with clubs to keep fit, sometimes that results in being offered a contract, sometimes not. All I'm saying is he had trials with other clubs before he joined us and now we've released him. If someone at Championship level or above picks him up and he goes on to make the grade then I (and the club) am wrong.
So you see, I'm passing my opinion, which is what a forum is all about.
The vast majority of us on here only do the same, we generally don't have the facts about the subject but if we were only to post on most of the subjects on here based on fact then the forum would be rather empty!

So what! The guy has gone. He could have had a sex change and trying to qualify for the US ladies volleyball team for all I care, however it would've been a much more interesting story!

buryblue77 understand what you are saying ,but just to inform you Cody has been with his family in the USA. His father was a top coach and through contacts Cody was offered a chance to train with that Club. He does not stop training like most players on leave ?. He knows its vital to remain fit in football if you wants to progress. Also he will be joining the USA International team over there. As regard him having had trials with other teams.Yes he did Arsenal, wolves,Portsmouth,Birmingham,Leicester,IPSWICH. All bar one Birmingham offered a contract. But a problem with Croppers passport and international clearance papers would take over a year to sort out. The clubs could not wait and let him go, But wanted to keep in touch.Ipswich was the only club that said they were not letting him go,and would hold on to him regardless. From that point on it was hands off to any club that wanted to watch Cropper play,What does that suggest ?? Any way its all water under the bridge now,You may be surprised where he may end up? Just hope he will enjoy his football like all players should COYB

tellitasiseeit, you are obviously very well informed. I would always wish any player the best of luck and I hope for his own sake he does become a success (there have been several very good American keepers over here, he could be the next) and if he does then the clubs judgement was wrong.
I understand that anyone of that age is very likely to return home if a venture doesn't work out which would explain his reason for training back in The States.
If the contract situation as you say is correct and Ipswich were the only ones to offer a contract it was to protect someone they saw as a future asset from going anywhere else, someone obviously saw potential in him, now what has happened is probably that the potential realised at first has not materialised and he's been let go. Or for the not so keen on PJ supporter, the suspicion that Jewell doesn't like our youth set up/players coming through.

Maybe this says more about Jewell as Seattle Sounders are the biggest team in MLS and would comfortably beat our lot if we ever played them.

Seattle Sounders gate is 60.000 + all seated at nearly every game. Casey Keller US top keeper has just had his retirement game for them 75.000+ were there including Cody Cropper. They have a very large following like Man United over here.

It isn't a question of liking PJ or not, arguably all fans want him to succeed because they want the result. Our club has traditions that are hard to shift, the youth policy happens to be a very good one at any time, let alone in these increasingly straitened times. If our present manager is not prepared to make the most of those traditions and only take the ones he likes - such as giving the manager time - then we all know what the outcome is going to be. The previous manager may have played more products of the academy, but as soon as they got successful he couldn't handle them. Now we have one who won't invest in them and give them enough chances. I could mention purer passing football and a host of others but hey ... when are ITFC going to play to their strengths?

parhamblue Agree with what you say.But when are they going to play to our strengths as you say . The youth at Ipswich have been let down badly by the so called management at our club, They will find that Ipswich was built on bringing youth through the Academy to build the first team along with the odd signings that was needed to maintain a good team, But this seem's to be far from what has been happening.Only hope that they can turn it around and compete with the leading groups in our league if not god help us?
