Jewell Watches Bradford and Swindon Draw
Jewell Watches Bradford and Swindon Draw
Saturday, 5th May 2012 17:23

Town boss Paul Jewell was back at his old club Bradford City this afternoon to watch the Bantams draw 0-0 with League Two champions Swindon Town. Jewell returned to his family home in West Yorkshire earlier this week.

On-loan Blues striker Ronan Murray was left out of the Robins’ 16, but winger Matt Ritchie and right-back Paul Caddis, who were linked with Town in January, were both in Paolo Di Canio’s promoted side.

Ritchie and Caddis were both in the league two team of the season, nice to be linked with them.

Jewell returned home to his family earlier this week and probably decided to go and see his old club to see how they are doing. Period. Alternatively, we are about to sign Swindon's best 2 players. Must be the latter!

IT does seem strange to me that football is still being played when our season for us finished 2 weeks ago !!!
I thought Jewellio had moved his family down here in the last few weeks ??????

PJ always seems to go scouting for players in Yorkshire or within 50 miles of West Yorkshire. That must be handy for him.

He's talking to Steve Parkin about the joining as 1st team coach. Chris Hutchings is thinking of opening a hairdressers on Spring Road.

Can't read too much into any of this! PJ may have simply been taking in a game of football - enjoying a day off. Or he could have been scouting.

Hopefully the club will soon start to sign players though - important we get in early! We will be linked with lots of players - it remains to be seen how many we sign on permanent deals (no loans) - if any.

So he's watching players from the lower leagues, isn't that exactly what you moaners have been telling him to do for months.
Suggest some of you stay off this site and go fishing instead, it's getting boring.

Scouting at lower league clubs is commendable. Makes a change from just watching Match of the Day and the first 20 minutes of The Football League Show which is the usual source of our (unmotivated, overpriced) players. Now if you can just make it more frequent, and a national search (like Burley did), rather than just visiting your mates at your local former club, then we're making real progress.

Would love both these 2 here but I think it's Caddis we're looking at rather than ritchie unless PJ plans to utilise JET as a striker next season!? Feels like the Ward deal is stalling but could be wrong...

Need to add a bit of height into the side too though as our goal return from corners and free kicks has been poor this season!

Caddis can play right back or right midfield and from what I've seen of him works his socks off. He is 24 so a good age my only worry is that he didn't really make it Scottish Football. He will be hungry though which is what we want so worth a go in my opinion. As for Ward Appleton is saying that Ward is the next to go with 5 or 6 Championship Clubs in the hunt. He has been here seen the facilities etc so if he does not come we have to move on.
