Pompey Keeper Henderson: I'm Not Moving
Pompey Keeper Henderson: I'm Not Moving
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2012 16:59

Portsmouth keeper Stephen Henderson has tweeted that he is not going to leave Pompey. The Irish U21 international is one of the three Pompey players the Blues are looking to sign before this evening's 11pm deadline.

The former Bristol City man tweeted: "Putting this to bed now! I'm not going anywhere, I'm very happy at Portsmouth and look forward to Hull Saturday!"

Town are still continuing to talk to Pompey but with central defender Jason Pearce and midfielder or defender Joel Ward now appearing the only possible signings.

actually if the administrators decide to sell him he may not have a choice! personally think if we shore up the defence we can make do with Keepers.... id prefer to see Loach come in next season (assuming we stay up)

Hello there,

I'm afraid that the situation at Fratton Park isn't as simple as some have posted on here. There is a wider issue surrounding the ownership of the club which needs to be addressed. The best way of forcing that issue and creating the conditions for either a sale or for the main creditor (Chainrai) to put money into the club is to be staring at the winding up hearing on the 20th without any cash.

In that scenario, either Chainrai protects his asset by producing some capital or he sells to interested parties at a realistic price or he sees what is realisable after liquidation (not a lot).

There is real conflict between the club and the administrator of CSI (the parent company) as I'm led to believe. There's no point Town talking to the administrator of CSI because he isn't the person responsible for signing off deals.

And there is no point accepting any deal for players in PFC's position if it doesn't resolve the cashflow issue until the end of the season.

There are games within games being played here and we'll see what happens.

So he'd have only come here if he was forced to then?? So why the hell have we been pinning our hopes on this guy? Did nobody think about asking the guy if he wanted to come here last week? Then we could have just moved on...joke, utter joke!

All 3 have been very vocal about not leaving Pompey, noe have said anywhere they want to move, whether they can be pushed out?.....that is your only hope. Perhaps they know more about the people interested in buying Pompey than the rest of us.

delusional, we need a keeper urgently. wright off to america soon, ALB isnt up to first team football at this level, and frankly neither is the reading guy not that he's here long long term either, Cody isn't ready for 1st team. in my books we havnt got a championship level keeper on the books and no chance of getting one in considering the state of the club. We need a keeper big time.

Loach or Camp? you really think either would want to come here? not a chance in hell, we'll struggle to get a decent non league pllayer here these days. If they are any good they'll want to goto a club showing prospects of going in the right direction. We aint.

Casanovacrow, i know for a fact Loach would love to come to town........ clearly if we get relegated that will change but if we remain in the championship and the right price was paid he would come. The reading keeper did a great job for Leeds, clearly the defence has rattled him (as it seems to all our keepers) a new keeper isnt the answer, we must shore up the defence and then even a half decent keeper would stand a chance. Agree we do need to get one, but even the best of the best would struggle with the current set up.

In 2014 when we are playing Champions League football, he'll regret his decision and eat his words!

This reads more as "i didn't want to leave, but hands tied" and "i moved for the long time future of Portsmouth"

Portsmouth FC are not in administration, their parent company are. So despite being short of cash, and now owing HMRC, they may not feel they have to sell in this window. They can sit tight to wait to see if a buyer rolls up or loan out some players if one doesn't - with other clubs paying a large proportion of the wages involved. No-one can force them to sell.

It was never a fire sale, they're skint but not desperate (yet). If we thought we could offer a few quid for the spine of their defence then we were mistaken.

So there should be a plan B. And a C. And a D. The fact there isn't any sign of one is a considerable worry given that our defence can't buy a clean sheet right now or even just concede 1 or 2.

I'm very worried about the future of this club right now. We're in real trouble.

If we end up with 0 signings today, there has to be a massive protest against Clegg and Jewell.
Ipswich Town supporters are being treated like sh:t and it has to stop. These players are not good enough to stop us sliding into League One

I'm sorry but at the end of the day the position we are currently at in the league will have an effect on what players we can get if any. If we were top, players would sign for us.

@Camposlock it is you who is the mug...if the club contact the player first it is called tapping up and is against league rules. You have to get the bid accepted by the club first then they give you permission to talk to the player. What a complete utter tw@t you have turned out to be.
