Appleton Not Told Identity of Third Man
Appleton Not Told Identity of Third Man
Friday, 27th Jan 2012 11:16

Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton admits that he hasn’t officially been told the identity of the third Pompey player the Blues are targeting. As reported last night, we understand goalkeeper Stephen Henderson is the third man on boss Paul Jewell’s wish list along with Jason Pearce and Joel Ward.

Discussions are ongoing between the clubs’ off-field management with Appleton admitting that he’s not certain of the third target: “I’ve got a good idea who it is but I haven’t been told about it.

“I don’t want anyone to go but I might get a call at any time. We know the position the club are in.”

But the Pompey boss claims losing members of his already stretched squad isn’t inevitable, particularly if there are developments on the ownership front with Sicilian American businessman Joseph Cala understood to be reviving his move for the club.

“It’s not an absolute must,” he insisted. “From our view, that’s why we don’t have to take the first bid which comes along.”

Let's hope we can complete these deals and have another amazing performance against West Ham. It sounds like there will be a big crowd, lets hope the result/performance/atmosphere is similar to the one at Upton Park earlier in the season. COME ON YOOOU BLUES!

These on-going talks must have been going well for jewell to get the impression he could add another player to the bid! Surely if it was a certain know he would have given up entirely??

Christ! Pi** off Cala! Can someone look into his dealings being an American-Sicilian business man before he tries to buy Pompey!? We need them players and I'm sure they'd rather play for us than the mafia!!

Potentially libelous so I'm expecting the message telling me you've removed this post Phil!!

Pulp novelist Holly Martins travels to shadowy, postwar Vienna, only to find himself investigating the mysterious death of an old friend, black-market opportunist Harry Lime. Starred Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten and Alida Valli... Oh, I see what he means. Micky... It's the 'keeper. That clears that up.

Time is running out now, as if we have taken a week to get this far with theses players, the club only have another 5 days to do a deal with the other targets if these fall through

I still tell you Portsmouth just have to sit out the window, and hope the deal with Cala comes off. Because if it does not they would be stuffed. Dangerous game to play but is it worth taking the risk?

Another worry is that Jewell always says he is focussed on preparing the team for a day or two before a match, and we play West Ham on transfer deadline day. So, his attention will be on that Monday and Tuesday. I guess there is Clegg there to work on the deals. Oh dear.

Of the 25 players, we have probably only bid for about 5/6? Not sure if you are suggesting the website is poor for throwing out the rumours it gathers, or whether you are having a go at the club for not bringing any of them in as of yet?

Cala looks set to pay of debts at pompy as soon as he is in charge anyway so it is highly unlikely that we are going to land 1 let alone 3 pompey players

Seriously, why is it taking so long to conclude just one transfer? At this point we should be throwing money at the clubs who have players that we want. We don't have time to piss about! We need players through the door!
