Ingimarsson Leaves Town
Ingimarsson Leaves Town

Blues boss Paul Jewell has revealed that Icelandic defender Ívar Ingimarsson's contract has been terminated by mutual consent. The 34-year-old was one of the centre-halves heavily criticised after Monday's 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Jewell said: “We’ve terminated Ívar’s contract, we’ve come to an agreement with him and his agent, that was agreed early in the week.

“It just hasn’t worked out, for him or for us. He’s been a terrific professional, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. I think Ívar accepts that and we accept that.

“I rang his agent and said ‘it’s not working out’. He’s been a terrific player, a terrific professional and is a proud man, so he doesn’t want to hang around if he’s not going to be involved."

The Blues manager says the summer free transfer from Reading, who made six starts and two sub appearances for Town, never really established himself at Portman Road: “From day one it’s been start-stop for him, so I thought it was better for him to cut ties.

"The owner’s come to an agreement with his agent about the rest of his contract.”

Aside from Ingimarsson’s exit, Jewell says there have been no new developments on transfers either in or out.

Right guys and girls, instead of the half time shot competition we have the who's good for Ipswich's defence. The club will pick one of you from each stand on Saturday before the game and you will become the town's defence.

Just cant think of anyone else who can play????

Good luck Ivar, You just had too many injuries to get going.

This was inevitable after PJ's rant about the culpability of the centre backs in the Notts Forest debacle. I fear that few of the players now have any belief in the management and any collective team culture is now on hold until a new management team is appointed. It's very much everyone for themselves now and the rush for the lifeboats is just starting.

I'd rather pay him out than pay his wages as he leaks more goals. He was never going to be a first choice here anyway, why are you all crying about it?

And jas, as more no new signings, keep your hair on, we've got a week until Blackpool, plenty of time to sign someone.

Blackpool?

And why is JET a disgrace?

Am I the only one who thinks we missed a trick here by not pairing him up with Sonko. He was a regular in the Reading side that almost made it to the prem last season and would surely have had a good understanding with his old team mate. He didn't become a bad player overnight and I wouldn't be surprised to see him keeping a clean sheet against us in a few weeks. All the best Ivar.

Why Why Why??? Our defence is piss poor.

gorse added 20:46 - Jan 7
Most of the above would have moaned if he stayed, or moaned if he left. As it wasn't working out mutually PJ did what a professional should to the benefit of both parties. What else should he have done FFS? Grow up.

Why??? Delaney just got an injury, Sonko is injury prone and Smith is just crap. I know he hasn't been the best but at least keep him till we get a replacement. I would rarther have him than Smith, and we're not bleseed with numbers at CB's. I mean he could still do a job for us even if he doesnt start every game, we're told he's the model proffesional, so keep him to show a good example to the youngins.

with every passing day we resemble the Naaridge team who got relegated from the championship to league one 3 seasons ago more and more. lots of past it pros, a few inexperienced players finding it difficult to build their confidence in a struggling team and worst of all no tactics. they sacked roeder and replaced him with fans fave gunn, who was even worse. much as i'd like to see a new manager and new ideas, i hope we don't take a sticking plaster approach like them

Oh great does that mean Donkey Delaney will get a start now. Please bring in a decent CB so this doesn't happen.

Gorse - welcome to TWTD mate, can't win no matter what, fickle fans and no loyalty yet they'd all change their tone if we were top 6, they'd love him then. In fact I hope it happens so I can repost some of the ridiculous stuff I've read on here
