Premier League Quartet Chasing Andrews
Premier League Quartet Chasing Andrews

Everton, Aston Villa, Bolton and Swansea are all in the hunt to sign Town’s loan midfielder Keith Andrews from Blackburn when the January transfer window opens, according to one of this morning's tabloids. Elsewhere, the Blues are again linked with Doncaster frontman Billy Sharp.

Blackburn are understood to be willing to allow Andrews to leave on a free transfer in order to get the remaining 18 months of his contract off their books with his spell at Town having caught the eye of plenty of Premier League scouts. Previously Wigan have also been linked.

After yesterday’s victory over Derby, in which the Irish international netted the ninth goal of his spell with the Blues, boss Paul Jewell revealed that Andrews’s agent is set to hold talks with Town owner Marcus Evans on Monday.

If the linked Premier League sides firm up their interest, particularly the likes of Everton and Aston Villa, then it seems highly unlikely that the 31-year-old will be with the Blues for the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, Southampton, Cardiff, Burnley and Town are all said to be targeting Doncaster’s Billy Sharp in January. The Blues previously had a £2.3 million offer for the 25-year-old rebuffed in the summer, while the striker turned down a move to Southampton after they had agreed a £3.25 million deal with Rovers.

Sharp reportedly has a clause in his contract, which stretches to the summer of 2013, which means Doncaster would now have to allow him to move on if they receive an offer of £1.75 million.

Elsewhere, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp says he ultimately decided not to buy Town’s Connor Wickham as the Blues’ valuation was greater than he was willing to pay for the striker: “We kept looking at him. We watched him dozens of times and we liked him but we felt it was a lot of money for him.

“We have young players here like Harry Kane. He is a bit younger, we like him and we didn't feel we wanted to pay that money for Wickham.”

The England U21 international instead joined Sunderland for £8.1 plus further clauses taking the deal to £12 million and a sell-on percentage.

SamPentas - players don't ' love' Clubs anymore, so don't be fooled into believing that.
Andrews next contract is the most important he will sign in his career - we will not offer him the content, or indeed term length, that he will be looking for.
But my guess is - he will definately get it - ELSEWHERE.

Pretty clear that Andrews and Collins will be goling elsewhere, as for Sharp one look at our finances tells you the answer, he won't be coming to Ipswich.

Andrews isnt good enough for Blackburn when they are 19th in the table but he is good enough for everton and aston villa??

I think that Andrews is a good player for ipswich and it would be great if he stayed but unfortuantly i cant see its going to happen.

H32 agree BUT some players enjoy their football and Andrews has gone from a career that was nose diving to playing some of his best ever football particularly where goals are concerned, surely that would be a big incentive to stay or am I just too simplistic? We offered Bullard a deal and it appears Marcus Evans is not leaving y this deal to the hapless clegg, so must c the importance? All this paper talk may have, come directly from the agent prior to his meeting with ME tmw? I have a feeling he will sign, Collins will not however.......

Its time people realised that decent players will not come here as we will not pay the going rate, we are broke, there will be NO big signings, Sharp, etc, just a few loans, we are losing money week after week and ME is having to fund the gap, staying up is the main priority, sadly it will be without Collins, Andrews or Sharp.

bid decision for Andrews, he was never really good enough for the premiership and he could end up sitting on the bench again at villa or everton, but i guess as usual it will come down to who will pay him the biggest signing-on fee and wages over 2-3 years - so let's ket hyam ready for the new year!!!!!!!!!!

so many negative posts on here, why, is there any truth to any of these stories linking him to moves to premier clubs? look how players we get linked too. Billy Clarke is linked to us and everybody says, he wont come. andrews is linked to other clubs and he is definitely going according to most on here, just remember he needs to play week in week out..... that will NOT be the case if he joins a premier team, will it? .... i think its a realistic shout, andrews staying and as others have posted on here, he will probably have a genuine warmth towards the portman road fans... There are few bargains to be had in the football world during the january sales but we need some players of top quality at rock bottom prices to keep us going. How will PJ and the money men pull this off?

If everton can't afford him then what makes you think we can?

Ah tractorboy2434, or ITFC's financial expert is back! We aren't broke and the owner is backing the manager completely, but then you need something to moan about constantly though?!

We may get Sharp, but Andrews will need to decide between guaranteed first team football and possible rotation in the PL.

I can see a fairly large turnover in January, with fringe players off on frees or loans to free up the wage budget and 4 or 5 longer term acquisitions coming in - 1 CB, 1 RB, 1 DM, 1Attacking CM and 1 Striker

Evening Shaunminx

Everton's financial position is reasonably well documented. It would need to be a deal financed through the sale of Leadbitter and Priskin for fees, plus the release of their wages.

I've posted concern in the past at Town's wage bill, but this league is so tight that those clubs lucky enough to have an investor behind them should invest in order to get promoted out of it. The secret is getting the buggers to play as a team! COYB!

Collins is gone methinks as his wife will want him closer to home. KA i beleive will sign as he probably does not want to change clubs and as some say will be offered the armband over lead boots, who i beleive will be gone on january 1st as he ums and ahs over his contract renewal; no great loss really. PJ will know who he wants already and will be given money to spend in Jan. Ihave the feeling we will be looking for GK, RB, MF and STK. I have a strange feeling we will have a strong 2nd half and could make the playoffs if we bring in the right mix of players. Owards and up wards my fellow tractors and happy xmas.

Tractorman, youre not wrong here..... ''we aren't broke and the owner is backing the manager completely, but then you need something to moan about constantly though?!''

Some people cant grasp that as a 50% tax payer, or as a company who would pay 28% in tax on earnings, ITFC isnt a business where ME has to pop to the cash point and bring a box of cash in everytime he comes in to bridge the gap in the trading figures. It makes sense for big businesses to offset tax through things like this, if not they'd only lose half the money in tax anyway!
