Stockdale Sad to Leave Town
Stockdale Sad to Leave Town
Wednesday, 14th Dec 2011 16:48

David Stockdale says he's sad to be leaving Town early to return to parent club Fulham.

The 26-year-old tweeted: "Sad to be leaving such a great club with great people and some of the best fans in the country! But happy to be back at Fulham. Come on boys!"

Stockdale, who is not expected to feature in this evening's Europa League game against Odense, had been due to spend the season with the Blues but the Cottagers triggered their 24-hour recall after Mark Schwarzer suffered a neck injury.

Soon after the recall was confirmed, Stockdale's wife Katie announced that she is pregnant with the couple's third child.

Not as sad as I am to see you go.
Without your efforts we would be bottom two I have no doubt about that.
Respect to you David and all the best with your career.

Ultimately, very similar to Fulop (who everyone on here used to moan about). Excellent shotstopper but could not cope with crosses and set pieces to save his life, made costly individual errors and poor distribution.

Come on PJ, get it right this time. Permanent keeper in January, need to start bringing some forward thinking and longjevity to this "project" of yours!

Couldn't cope with crosses? Rubbish.

Criticism of ALB is absurd, he's had TWO bad games for us. Because one of them was against Norwich everyone has himself down as the worst keeper in history. When he had a run as our number one he was fine, and he showed against Burnley he he is a perfectly adequate replacement.

"some of the best fans in the country" - has he been looking in the stands? proof that footballers say anything to please moronic supporters.

Agree partly Lowestoft, at home were not great unless the lads on the pitch give us something but I would happily argue that our away support is probably up there as one of the best in the league if not England!

Lowestoft, he probably made that comment after looking into the stands at away games. No club has brought better away support than we take on our travels.

Agree with lowestoft - At home we have a terrible support

Stockdale has been a rock. Excellent shot stopper and excellent communicator with a rocky defence for protection. All the best for the future.
Time to sign a keeper urgently.

He has definitely not read TWTD as most posts on this site are so blood* negative, bitching about everything , manager, players team selection tactics the fees we pay for players, the players who do come the players who don't come!

He must be talking about the away support, not the moaning imbeciles who frequent different parts of PR

quality keeper, and a decent guy! proper gutted that he's leaving!, but lets get in brad guzan, from villa! he is a great keeper, and he said he's looking for first team football - so he might have to leave villa!

Well said Radiogaga. At least someone on here has some perception of the difference between an average and top class keeper.

Bugger..... So thats the spine ripped out of our team then, (Stockdale gone, Collins off after Sat, Andrews moving onto better things in Jan)....... Maybe now PJ,ME,SC, can FINALLY see that you can't build a team around loan players....
