Town legend Mauricio Taricco has escaped a ban after no action was taken over his 'horror tackle' on Everton midfielder Thomas Gravesen. Taricco caused a gash to Gravesen's foot which was widely condemned and a ban was expected.

However, referee David Elleray said he didn't want to look at the challenge again as he said he had seen it perfectly well at the time and did not feel it deserved either a red or yellow card.

An FA spokesman, Adrian Bevington said: "The referee, when asked if he wanted to reconsider the incident, said that he didn't because he had actually seen it. In those circumstances, there is no basis for the FA, or even its video advisory panel, on which to instigate any charge."

Spurs declined to comment on the matter.
