Crawley Keen to Keep Drury
Crawley Keen to Keep Drury
Saturday, 10th Dec 2011 17:15

Crawley boss Steve Evans has reiterated his desire to sign on-loan Town midfielder Andy Drury on a full-time basis. The 28-year-old has been with the League Two leaders since September, scoring four goals in 14 appearances.

Evans said: “Andy has played a huge part for us over the last three months and from a football perspective I would love to keep him.

“He is a good player and more importantly he fits well in our dressing room. He is a big part of the team spirit we have at the club but I am not being evasive when I say I have not had the conversation with the owners about him yet.”

The former Boston boss is also still to talk to Town about formalising the switch, with a longer term deal always on the cards from the outset: “I am sure I will speak to Paul Jewell about his future but only after I have been given my instructions by the owners when I meet them on December 17th.

“It is all agreed but that is subject to all parties concerned still being happy. There is a figure already set in the terms of the loan agreement but that doesn’t mean it will happen.

“If all three parties — Ipswich, us and Andy — are happy then it could happen but then there is a question of whether we can meet the player’s personal terms. He has said himself he wants to say so it is a case of whether we can make it work.”

By all means move him on if he has proved he isn't up to it once given a run of games here.

Good. A very poor PJ signing.

He looked good for us when he played. But at 28 he's too young.

Drury was worth a punt and he did OK here in his first few games. I don't know how a 75K player can be a "very poor" signing. 4M for Edwards and Leadbitter, that's a very bad signing!

Probably would be best to move on but to be fair he did alright when he played for us.

I'd like to see him given a go in the first team, to be honest. He did pretty good when we saw him.

Let's see how much we sell him for before deciding he was a bad buy, I personally think a calculated risk that may have paid off but didn't quite...

Shame. Thought he was a descent find. Financially, we still may profit on having him at the club.

A VERY solid player who deserves to do well.
He would very probably be Div 1 next season, he is doing well and it is not at all surprising that he is signed on for a Championship team.
Anyway he should be very happy to be appreciated and no doubt he will have enjoyed the 4 goals he has already scored.
Good luck and possibly this is not the last we hear of the man.
