Bradford Yet to Seal Lavery Deal
Bradford Yet to Seal Lavery Deal
Saturday, 10th Dec 2011 10:22

Bradford City have confirmed that they are in talks with former Town striker Caolan Lavery but say they are still to complete a deal to sign the 19-year-old, who refused a contract at Portman Road at the end of his scholarship earlier in the season. TWTD was first to reveal the League Two side's interest in Lavery in early November.

Bradford chairman Mark Lawn says discussions have stalled while Lavery’s agent is abroad: “Talks are ongoing with his agent but at present his agent is in China.”

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson is keen to add the Canadian-born Northern Irish U21 international to his squad having kept an eye on his progress for some time: “If you get a chance to sign a young goalscorer, then sometimes that can be too good to turn down.

“We’ve been monitoring Caolan at Ipswich. The scout down there, Brian Owen, has worked with me at Charlton and Colchester before [and at Town under Sir Bobby Robson] and he’s watched him progress in the youth team.”

Having offered Lavery, who recently had trials at Leicester and Sunderland, a contract until the end of the season, the Blues would be entitled to compensation once he signs on the dotted line.

Let's replace him in January with young players with better prospects, and who want to play for ITFC.

He's presumably holding out for £1m a week and all the sweets he can eat. Mercenary young idiot. Well rid of him.

His agent seems to be doing well for him !! Perhaps he will soon start thinking for himself and realising that agents are not always working for the clients best interests but for the most money to themselves !!! For someone who had been touted as a good talent the clubs trialling him seem to have seen something to deter them . He will hopefully not live to regret the silly decision to throw away the chance offered by ITFC after they had given him the chance to progress after the extension ! That to me was a sign of immaturity and ingratitude after he was supported beyond his official time at the academy !!! Agents at that level should be banned !!

I am with you ireland stupid comments from ignorant people who no doubt support the idiot in charge who created this situation. Wake up and smell the coffee paul jewell is the problem i note he had no problem when his agent came in to negotiate his contract its only a problem if its someone else. A decent manager would not have let this happen and good luck to Caolan he was never going to get a chance here till he was over 30 anyway

ireland and newboy - I agree with you - some people, and their juvenile comments, you just have to ignored for all too obvious reasons.

This lad needs to be AT THIS CLUB - he was treated, as many youngsters have been, badly and offered a derisory contract.

Do we want youngsters at this Club or not ?? - if we do then when they start to impress and 'find their feet' - TREAT THEM PROPERLY - AND THEY WILL STAY - and then go on to be assets to us all.
