Cresswell Confident Town Can Get Out of Trouble Saturday, 3rd Dec 2011 11:00 Left-back Aaron Cresswell says he knows what it takes to battle at the wrong end of the table with Tuesday’s 4-0 hammering at Burnley having seen the Blues drop to 21st in the Championship. Despite suggestions to the contrary, Cresswell is at pains to stress that the players remain loyal to manager Paul Jewell as he struggles to halt the run of losses. The statistics — six defeats in a row, the Championship’s leakiest defence and only goal difference keeping Town out of the relegation zone — make grim reading. But an optimistic Cresswell is confident the position can be turned around: “We can get through this. There are 28 games left and we need to start winning as quickly as possible. “I was in a real dogfight with Tranmere last season and I know what it’s like. We were battling relegation for most of the season and eventually pulled clear. “We remained positive and believed it would turn. Here at Ipswich we have to start enjoying our football again and the free-flowing stuff will come. “We know the manager’s head is on the line and of course we are behind him. He signed 13 of us and we all want to repay him for the faith he showed in us. “It can’t be nice for any manager who finds himself in this situation. There are some things that he can’t do because it’s down to the players. “We must stay positive and we’ve got to stick together. There must also be plenty of hard work and we must all show leadership qualities.” Meanwhile, former Blue Reggie Lambe is expected to sign on the dotted line with MLS side Toronto FC in the next few days. Town legend Paul Mariner is the director of player development at the Canadian club and watched the 20-year-old in action for Bermuda in a training game in Florida in August. The winger, released by the Blues in the summer, subsequently joined the club on trial and impressed Mariner and head coach Aron Winter.
