Andrews Unsure About Future
Andrews Unsure About Future

Blues midfielder Keith Andrews says he’s not sure what will happen when his half-season loan from Blackburn ends in January. The 31-year-old, who is in action for the Republic of Ireland in the second leg of their Euro 2012 play-off against Estonia this evening, doesn’t want to return to Ewood Park, where he still has 18 months remaining on his contract.

Andrews told the Irish media: "The loan is up in early January and I don't honestly know what'll happen then. There's been bits and pieces in the press in England that Ipswich want to sign me on a permanent deal, so we'll see what happens.

"I don't think Blackburn want me back and I don't want to go back there, so I'm sure something will get done. We'll wait and see."

The Dubliner, who has been confirmed in Ireland’s starting line-up for tonight’s game, is one of a number of Blues players in international action.

Meanwhile, Andrews's recruitment is one of the main reasons that, according to stats experts Opta, 38% of Town's goals have come from shots from outside the penalty box this season, a higher proportion than anyone else in the Championship.

Andrews has netted five goals - several of them from well outside the area - in 13 starts and one sub appearance.

So we need to be top 6 in early January or things rather fall apart.

He's a midfielder shauny. Also, if we're worried about this guys wages, we've got a shock coming when we reach the premier league, so much premier league survival is based on spending money on proven, sometimes expensive, experianced heads who will do the job, that and a couple of real bright sparks and you will make progress. If we go up this year (I still think we can), the experiance of Bullard, Bowyer, Andrews et al will be VITAL.

He's made it clear he doesn't want to go back to Blackburn but he hasn't said he wants to stay at Portman Road.
Sounds like he's encouraging interest and with Ireland doing so well you can't really blame him.
Hope he stays though.Would be a good signing but i fear the worst.

Sign him up but for gods sake play him in central midfield where he is at his best, dont stick him on the wing, drop bedwetter and put him in there with Bullard

The way the team is shaping up, and performing around him, is enough to give him doubts about staying - it's about the Manager getting his/our act together so he doesn't even consider going elsewhere.

Can't see it happening though - he will move to a Club showing more potential on various fronts. Watch this space - although I hope he stays.
