Stockdale Rumours Rubbish
Stockdale Rumours Rubbish
Sunday, 21st Aug 2011 09:24

Loan keeper David Stockdale has dismissed rumours claiming that he is to return to Fulham in the wake of Town’s recent heavy defeats to Southampton and Peterborough.

The England call-up tweeted: “Rumours of me going back are rubbish! It's a team game and I'm part of that team too. I don't throw the towel in. Time to fight and stand.”

Earlier the 25-year-old, Town’s man of the match at London Road by some distance, said he had had a restless night: “Not much sleep last night. What a week. 42 games to shape up now!”

T0 people wondering who would come here-any player ,especially defenders who want to play as they know that they would be going straight into the team, IFby some miracle we were to win promotion and I know it would take something biblical to happen but if we did we should buy stockdale without hesitation however much it hurt Evans's pocket.

Season is dead so lets hope for better next season.

People who think the club will buy 3 new players and everything will be alright are so wrong.

This year is about staying in the division

How Jewell can praise our fans is beyond me at times. I have been watching ITFC for over 20 years and since ME was took over our fans have changed. Spend, Spend, Spend ! - Keane did it and now Jewell has and its got us no where !

5 of the starting 11 were PJ's signings, 3 Keane's, 1 Magilton's and 2 from the youth's, I know we have sold CW but ME has invested more than enough in to this squad and for what return? - PJ has had since last season to sign 2 x CBs and a RB and has failed. It was crystal clear when the scum turned us over where the problem was.

I have said this before and I will say it again, instead of signing up joureneymen from the Prem/C'Ship looking for one last payday that don't have an ounce of ambition/hunger left, go and get some hungry youngsters from League 1/Abroad that would give anything to play for a club like ours.

Its not coincidence that Norwich, Southampton and Peterborough have torn us apart and have/will be challenging. I am happy to stand corrected but Southampton had ONE player with Prem experience... Kelvin Davis and they ran our midfield/defence ragid!

I can't see things improving, we have lost millions of pounds by letting Norris, Gareth Mc and Fullop leave for nothing and ME is a businessman and any good businessman will want a return on his investment and he is a million miles away from getting any, despite being millions out of pocket!

Keanes win ratio is better than Jewells, have we taken another step backwards

But must be Keanes fault we lost the last 2 even through most of the signing on the field were Jewell's

Gate for Leeds under 18000 and still think that is too many.
those players earn in one year what it takes me to earn in 15 and yet its our money going in to their pockets.

They should buy the tickets for all the home fans against Leeds, I will let them off petrol cost and programmes parking and a pie etc and then they might get a feel for how expencive it is to watch them do nothing

Felt sorry for Stockdale playing behind that excuse for a defence.

His back must be aching this morning too.

Tommy Smith, Carlos Edwards, Damien Delaney, Grant Leadbitter none of you are good enough I am afraid. Goodbye.
Also goodbye Simon Clegg.
Why don't we buy some players from the continent? I am sure that there are some hungry young Dutch lads

Fulham won't want him to stay here - if he goes that just leaves ALB; along with letting 3 CB's go and replacing with one aging injury prone CB, failing to address the RB position - PJ's decision to release 2 GK's is beginning to look like an abysmal one as well. Terrible start to the season - poor Summer of transfer activity. The writing was on the wall at Cambridge (pre-season) the only one who couldn't see it was PJ. Considerably worse than Roy and Jim as the results don't lie.

PS those who are saying we can turn it around are deluded - not with PJ and Clegg at the club. Plus all well and good talking about signings - but PJ / Clegg should have had this sorted LONG AGO. Who will want to join us now. We are a shambles. It's a DISGRACE and ME needs to sort it NOW.

This is amazing an on loan player is the only one to comment , thank you for showing us your commitment and your effort particularly in the 2nd half we need more like you ! I guess many of our other spineless layabouts are either still in bed or out spending their unearned money . I hope they feel as sick and depressed as i do today but i doubt it .2weeks ago i was really looking forward to the new season but now i don,t think i can be even bothered to go to the Leeds game ,perhaps another business would like my £35-£50 every saturday ! Lets hope i feel better by friday , 43 years of support is alot to give up !!

One word 'Bullard'. We all know what happened when he was here. Get him in plus a CB and hopefully that will sort it out. That would mean getting rid of Leadbitter, never mind!

Quality keeper really felt for him yesterday having Delaney and Co as your protection. if we dont get a couple of Centre backs in this week and please Jewell drop Leadbitter or even better sell him, this will only continue!!!!!

I thought Fulop was a decent enough keeper at this level. He obviously fell out with Jewell and now we are dependent on a loanee. I'm not surprised that rumours regarding Stockdale's future are being circulated. Less than 2 weeks ago he was in the England squad. Since then his been involved in 3 losses and conceded 13 goals. It doesn't look very good on his CV regardless of where the blame lies.

Victorywillhappen - think you are on the correct path. We need young, hungry players with something to prove. However, I'm worried it could be about more than the players. Our coaching team surely have something to do with the level of performance coming from our current squad? We can buy all the players in the world but without the correct coaching they will steadily decline. Think, Leadbitter came to us with a fairly good reputation and look at his performance yesterday. Is that just confidence or is there a bit more to it? Just to back up what I said I think Delaney USED to be a good player too.

Stockdale = Quality keeper. Shame there is no quality in our defence, with the exception of Cresswell who has been the shining light.

Cheers mate

Stockdale
Edwards - Ingimarsson - New Player - Cresswell
Bowyer - Andrews - New Player
Martin - Chopra - JET

that would be a very good team, we just need 2 cb's (one backup) and 1 midfielder, and one striker

David Stockdale kept the score in single figures, and I am certain that if he reads these threads he will know that he has the admiration and support of the vast majority of fans. It must have been a weird and shocking experience playing behind a non existent defence.

I would encourage him to take the Peter Schmeichel approach with the defenders and bully them into action. There is precious little leadership across the back four and they badly need galvanising.

keep doing what you're doing, david. You're a great keeper and kept the score down without a doubt. Sorry you have a bunch of pansies playing in front of you at the moment.

Good to see Jas0999 is back to tell us all how he'd have done it better... If you hadn't noticed the players messing up are almost all Keane's signings, the ones doing well are the ones Jewell has signed.

To be honest Bobble, despite the sarcastic tones, sums us all up, we need to stop calling for people's heads as soon as the going gets tough or else we'll be a short-term fix team which plummets and fails to progress.

Good on you Stockdale for staying, I hope you're rewarded. Whilst he was frantically trying to save us a bit of pride last night, Delaney was jogging around as if he didn't even care (watch the 3rd goal again). Some of the players don't care, I don't even know if ME cares, Keane certainly didn't care. stop blaming the wrong people!
