Bullard Set to Finally Leave Hull
Bullard Set to Finally Leave Hull
Wednesday, 10th Aug 2011 09:40

Former Town loanee Jimmy Bullard’s Hull City career looks set to come to an end with the player set to meet with Tigers officials today with a view to settling his £45,000-a-week contract. Last season’s Blues Player of the Year has been suspended by Hull for the last month for an alleged indiscretion during their pre-season trip to Slovenia.

The terms of the expected settlement aren’t known with the Tigers having held a lengthy investigation into the still unclear allegations and with sacking the player reported to be one of the options looked at by the East Yorkshire club.

It’s more likely that Bullard and the club who he joined from Fulham for £5 million in 2009 will agree a pay-off on the two remaining years of his contract.

Whether Bullard’s changed situation will see Town’s interest renewed remains to be seen. Speaking last week, Blues boss Paul Jewell reiterated his earlier comments that a move was beyond the club’s financial capabilities, certainly while the 32-year-old was with Hull: “We’ve spoken to [Hull’s head of football operations] Adam Pearson a number of times over the summer and I’ve spoken to Jimmy.

“It’s something that we would love to have done but financially it’s out of our remit. We’d like to have had Lionel Messi but we couldn’t afford him and I think Jimmy might be on a little bit more money to honest!”

QPR have also been linked, although subsequent reports have claimed their interest has cooled.

Elsewhere, former Blues international scout Simon Hunt is set to be named sporting director at Blackburn Rovers. Ex-Town striker David Lowe joined the coaching staff at Ewood Park earlier in the summer.

Maybe we should put in for Messi then ?? I do however remember Bullard stating it's not just about the money !! We'll see, but I very much doubt it.

Will end up at Swansea or WBA @!!

The fact that he'll now be starting from scratch with no contract, I feel a lot more clubs will now become interested due to the fact that they don't have a massive amount of money to match up to in order to sign him...... I have a feeling we might have some competition for him now!! That's IF we even want to go back in for him anyway!! Where will he fit in the midfield now we have bowyer and (hopefully) andrews??

Free agent....15 grand a week and a bit of hero worship from the town faithfull should do the trick!......if its not about money!!!!

free agent? 20k p/w on a 1 year deal and a £500k bonus if he plays 20 games this season and we go up. He said it wasn't about money, now is the time to prove it. Enjoy the last few years of your career at a club that loves you and playing for a manager who respects you.

Go on Jimmy, do it!!

It's about time Hull City FC came to senses regarding this issue. To have given a relatively old guy the huge contract (both length and expense!) was bordering on financial lunacy. It's like asking the gods to relegate you!

Hopefully Jolly Jimmy will be back at Portman Road, I'd say he still has a lot to offer for the right price!

He stated it wasn't about the money, might have to prove it now, if he gets the boot, and a pay-off from Hull.

Can see him at somewhere like WBA on a pay-as-you-play deal.

would sure like to know the settlement small print. I bet Hull have got a nice little clause in there that cuts Bullards settlement as soon as he signs elsewhere so other clubs cant sign him on the cheap.

I like jimmy, and loved when he played for us.

However why would he come here, if he was offered a chance to play in the premier league, i.e QPR, Norwich etc or a championship club like liecester, who are likely to offer more money and promotion.

I for one wouldn't blame him, his class... Doesn't like tackling mind :-)

CB a priority but by getting Jimmy on a free, he will be worth 15 goals from midfield as long as he stays injury free. Snap him up, he loves playing for PJ!

Bullard or andrews?
Bullard may be on a higher wage but he will at the very least get 10 goals and a starting place each week and get loved by the fans..hmm...i think he knows where he is wanted.

Get stuffed Jimmy 'it's not about the money' bullard! If he just wanted to play football he'd have moved by now!

His attitude and utter BS has left a very sour taste in my mouth.

Focus on a quality CB or two please PJ.

He said its not about the money, and how he loved Ipswich, now he will have to prove it now.

PaulC;-

You cant expect anyone to rip up a £45k a week contract. When he will be free of this, this will be the time to judge him.
