Crawley Could Sign O'Connor
Crawley Could Sign O'Connor
Saturday, 23rd Jul 2011 10:41

Crawley Town assistant manager Paul Raynor says he and boss Steve Evans will assess whether to sign trialist Shane O’Connor over the next few days. As TWTD revealed on Thursday, the 21-year-old left midfielder or full-back has been with Crawley this week and played in a 0-0 friendly draw with Crystal Palace last night, the second game of his spell.

Raynor said: “Shane has come in and done reasonably well. We will sit down, watch the DVD of the game and assess the situation over the next few days.

“He has played games in the Championship and had a good grounding at Liverpool, so he has a decent pedigree. He is lacking a bit of fitness but he wants to be here so we’ll have to wait and see.”

O’Connor has another year left on his Town contract and the Blues may want a small fee for his services.

Good luck O'Connor

Always seemed like a good player.

Think he could have kept in the Championship.

"He is lacking a bit of fitness" Hmmm, maybe the reason he has been snubbed by pj!

At his age and with the opportunity he has of making big money if successful he should be ripping the gym equipment of the walls.

I'm sure Crawley would like to sign him, he could play League 1.

He shouldn't be lacking fitness. There must be reasons why both Keane and Jewell did not pick O'Connor for the side after he did so well when he did play. He always seemed a positive and confident lad on the pitch.

If we are getting rid of him, how about a free transfer with a big sell on clause? Crawley wouldn't have to pay anything now and we would get money in future if he does come good.

“Shane has come in and done reasonably well..." - not 'Really well' and not 'quite well' but only 'reasonably well'. Maybe a lack of application is why he is on his way out.

@Mark That's a brilliant idea mate! Can't see anyone at the club thinking of that though!

He'd be a great signing for Crawley. I think they'll go straight up again, alot of potential there.
