Warnock Confirms Bullard Interest
Warnock Confirms Bullard Interest

QPR boss Neil Warnock has confirmed his interest in former Town loanee Jimmy Bullard. Newly-promoted Rangers are understood to have spoken to the 32-year-old regarding a move, although Bullard’s current club Hull City said they had turned down a loan offer from the Warnock's side last week.

The former Sheffield United boss says he is looking to add to his squad, but won’t be paying players over the odds: "We are working hard to get value for money and I am trying to get players in on our wage structure which we have implemented for the Premier League.

"We have been linked with a lot of players. I have spoken to three or four personally, but we haven't been able to afford either the transfer fees or the wages.

"We are down the line with a couple. Jimmy Bullard is one of a number we are talking about. We need strikers and centre-halves. We need a number of positions filling. We would like to bring three or four good players in and I'm sure we will in the next few weeks."

Hull are keen to rid themselves of the two remaining years of Bullard’s £45,000-a-week contract and reportedly told QPR that they would only consider a loan if they were prepared to pay his entire wage while the one-time England call-up was at Loftus Road.

Elsewhere, Celtic assistant manager Johan Mjallby says another former Town loanee, Darren O’Dea, is likely to move on this summer having been left out of the Glasgow giants' pre-season trip to Australia: “We have Jos Hooiveld and Darren O'Dea back training in Glasgow so we have a few central defenders.

“We need to offload one or two. There is no point in having too many centre halves. We also have Mark Wilson who can play at centre half.”

Get him then Warnock then all of this speculation will end because he clearly won't come back to us when he has the chance to go the Premier League

Think this will be Bullards last chance of playing in the Prem if he's not here. ;P

Good Luck Jimmy with wherever you decide to join apart from Norwich.

Not sure we need him as much now we've got Bowyer. Especially at the wages he will be wanting.

Can't really blame him if he does fancy a last crack at the premier league. QPR would be a great move to him to an area he knows well from his Fulham days. Would love to see him back but i expect the links with Bowyer/Boateng and signing of Bowyer suggests PJ has moved on and given up the ghost for now. If he's still a Hull player in a month then they might get itchy feet and loan him out while still paying 10k of his wages or so but ideally they want rid.

Even a Premier League club won't pay his wage - so what chance have we got?! People need to be realistic - we simply can't afford him and if JB does drop his wage demands, the likelihood is other PL clubs will sign him before us. One way or the other I hope this is all sorted very soon, even if it means he goes elsewhere!

I for one hope he goes there. At least it will put to bed all the rumours and nonsense that he may come here.
Sick of seeing him and the headlines about him on this site now.
Time we all moved on.

Just to bring yo chaps upto date, Adam Pearson has just done a big interview on local radio. It looks like Bullard is going to be accepted back into the fold for the rest of his contract. The owners were serious when they said the were NOT going to subsidise his salary at another club, as they have just turned down an offer of a part-paid loan with QPR.

Apparently you are completely out of the picture too on financial grounds (no surprise there given his ridiculous contract).

The vast majority of clubs in the Championship are trying to do something about the ridiculous wage situation, us included even though we have Bullard which we can do little about. Leicester, West Ham and Brighton (ironically with their appauling financial records) are bucking the trend and spending like they have a bottomless pitt of money.

i think we should be looking at younger players as we have 2 34 year olds in our team, i think we need to be looking towards the future bullard is a very good player but expensive for a short term fix.

great player and we should have moved sooner properly but one question could you trust him he has no agent so teams would be talking to him directly in the next window and town could'nt afford the kind of contract that Hull have him tied to, I'm so pleased he came to portman road and i would love him to be our player next season but i have my reservations after interviews and statements made since the season finished. Come on jimmy prove me wrong please!
