Swansea Chief Unaware of £300,000 Priskin Dispute
Swansea Chief Unaware of £300,000 Priskin Dispute
Friday, 24th Jun 2011 20:31

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins claims he is unaware of the dispute between his club and the Blues regarding cash owed on the Tamás Priskin loan deal. TWTD understands that the Swans owe Town a total of £300,000 relating to wages and the £160,000 promotion bonus we revealed last month.

Jenkins said: "In response to Ipswich Town's statement, as a club we are completely unaware of any dispute with Ipswich.

"Myself and Simon Clegg talked a few weeks ago regarding the situation of Tamás Priskin returning early from his loan spell, but there has been no correspondence since.

"While we are surprised and disappointed with Simon's statement, we will address the situation and speak to him and Ipswich early next week."

Jenkins previously clashed with Town boss Paul Jewell during his time as Derby boss over the Rams’ attempts to sign midfielder Ferrie Bodde.

Prior to Priskin's move, Town and the Swans were unable to agree a loan deal which would have taken Jason Scotland back to the Liberty Stadium with Jenkins at one stage denying that contact had been made between the two clubs despite the Blues boss and his Swansea counterpart Brendan Rodgers having confirmed that talks had taken place.

Meanwhile, reported Town target Jason Pearce has completed his move from Bournemouth to Portsmouth, while former Leeds midfielder Neil Kilkenny, whose agent had confirmed was also interesting the Blues, has joined Bristol City.

300,000 seems a bit steep, but go on clegg, if were in the right, then why not? The Swansea chairman has always been slightly iffy to me.

I think Clegg should give Huw Jenkins a massive wedgey, if he still doesn't pay up move on to a Chinese burn.

If that's the case that must mean that Priskin is on at least 12k a week
9 goals in 60 not bad for 12k a week

Nipple cripple, now that really does mean business.

Think maybe a dead leg with the threat of a nipple might just do it.

This should be interesting!

Disappointed no deal for Kilkenny and Pearce, but presumably PJ has other targets. A CB an absolute must!

Hopefully he'll similarly be blissfully "unaware" of Priskin's ability to finish and part with some dollar to take him off our hands!!

Maybe we'll make preston a "serious" offer for St.Ledger now that we've missed out on Pearce.

Swansea are welcome to Priskin.

Where is Hannibal Lecter when we need him. He'd find this Huw guy delicious.

£300,000 for Priskin's wages? He only went to Swansea on 24th March, so that would make £100,000 until the end of the season or about £25,000 a week! I suspect the £300,000 includes a loan fee of some description, as surely he isn't on that much.

If its clearly written in the contractual agreement then Swansea should pay up. Clegg wouldn't have been so outspoken unless he had very solid ground to stand on.
Great shame about Jason Pearce. IMO with our present wage structure we are going to really struggle to sign anyone decent when other teams are involved. Maybe we should be pushing our horizons further afield and looking to Portugal and Greece for reinforcements? Most Championship Managers seem to think the same thing- "foreign players take longer to settle and might never so we won't sign them". If I was PJ (which I'm not) I would investigate the Portuguese and Greek Leagues carefully to see if we can bring in much needed replacements from there for GM,Brown and Norris and co.

£100,000 a month I meant (assuming the full three months of the loan; I know he came back injured).

Not to bash Clegg, but shouldn't he have spoken directly to Jenkins before going public with the story? Could have saved some embarrassment for someone - lets hope not us...
