Delaney Crocks Keane
Delaney Crocks Keane
Thursday, 2nd Jun 2011 18:22

A tackle by Town defender Damien Delaney appears to have put Republic of Ireland skipper Robbie Keane out of Saturday’s Euro 2012 qualifier in Macedonia (Sky Sports One/HD1 8pm). Tottenham striker Keane suffered a groin injury apparently as a result of the challenge during training in Dublin today.

Town target Simon Cox will deputise if Keane isn't fit enough to take on the Macedonians, who have former Blue Veliche Shumulikoski in their squad.

Delaney himself is set to be a sub in Skopje with former Blues loanee Darren O’Dea continuing in the left-sided central defence role.

Departing Town keeper Brian Murphy was a late call into the squad, with Motherwell’s Darren Randolph pulling out due to injury, but is unlikely to be involved.

Oh, not the Keane I was hoping for! Unrelated, Is he still being called "Town target Simon Cox"? If we get him, I'll eat my hat - and my hat is made from dung!

How could they pick O' Dea and not Delaney? Who have they got as a CB?

SamWhiteUK added 21:19 - Jun 2
O' Dea IS a CB

Read the Article Mosschops. O'Dea is thought to be playing at LB. Thus I ask who is their CB that is keeping both Delaney and O'Dea out? It was not a criticism...

I did a double take when I saw the headline. I thought (hoped) that it meant Roy Keane...so close.

Ironically Delaney is not in the team.
