Town have withdrawn midfielder Josh Carson from the Northern Ireland U19 squad facing Slovakia in two friendlies next week. Academy duo Rory McKeown and Cormac Burke are both named for the games, which clash with the Blues’ first team match at home to Middlesbrough next Tuesday.

Carson, who has already won two U21 caps in addition to having previously played at U19 level, was originally named in the squad but since then has broken into Town’s senior side, making his debut in the 2-0 home win against Scunthorpe and keeping his place for the 2-1 victory at Burnley on Saturday.

Defender McKeown, who the club revealed yesterday will be released at the end of the season, and midfielder Burke and the rest of the Northern Ireland youngsters take on Slovakia next Monday and Wednesday with both games at Riada Stadium, Ballymoney.
