Boss Paul Jewell says he’s still looking to add loan signings to his squad but so far has been out of luck. The Town manager is also continuing to try to find loan clubs for his youngsters with Irish keeper Ian McLoughlin already at League Two Stockport for a month.

Jewell said: “We’re still trying to bring one or two in, but these things aren’t happening for us at the moment

“I’m not looking to get any of the senior players out but I’d like to get some young players out on loan.”

Aston Villa right-back Habib Beye and West Brom striker Simon Cox are amongst those to have opting against loan moves to Portman Road. Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso continues to be linked with the Blues despite Jewell denying making an enquiry regarding the 20-year-old [who has subsequently joined Burnley ].

The Town manager says that the Blues are keeping a close eye on 19-year-old McLoughlin’s progress at Edgely Park: “We’ve watched him twice, I was just talking to the goalkeeping coach about him just now. They played at Cheltenham and they won 2-1 against Oxford on Saturday, we were just watching the goals on TV.

“I like young players to go out on loan because for a month they go away and play in tough leagues and against tough men and they can learn more about themselves in a month than they can here in the same time.

“I’d like to get as many young players as I possibly can out on loan to make them realise what it’s like out there.”

Go get Kevin Phillips

Kevin Phillips would'nt come, too far from Lichfield and his lads Sunday morning team, not to mention Sky's pundit boxes in the Midlands. He likes the Birmingham bench.

Don't see the point in any more loans this season. Not going up or down. Identify targets for the summer & build for next season - not now.

Agree with Jay; the only reason to get in a loanee now would surely be to on a "try and then buy" basis otherwise its a waste of money. How about letting some young guns have a bit of a run out?

well I s'ppose if we wanted to UP our penalty tally we could go for a less skillful striker who likes to take the dive- Holt ?

Aliadiere is a free agent and might be worth a punt. Not the greatest strike rate and hated by boro fans - but 6 months without a club can do wonders for a players work rate and his strike rate at Arsenal was better than it appears because so many appearances were as a sub.

Save our money, unless we can get one of our summer targets now on a loan with view to permanent transfer in the summer. This is unlikely though as people we are being linked with will be at clubs still chasing promotion or fighting relegation.

Otherwise, let's just give others in the squad a chance to prove they deserve a new contract in the summer and really push on for next season.

Craig Mackail Smith

Mackail-Smith is good and as I live near Peterborough I've seen him play a number of times - would like him at PR but Barry Fry will price him out of our range; see that Delfouneso has just signed on loan at Burnley until the end of the season according to Sky so he was available it seems!

Bluejake:- If we want anyone who's any good, Mr. Evans is going to have to dig deep anyway. Mackail-Smith would be an excellent call. It's up to you Mr. Evans !

Burnley and Villa are not too far from each other so its makes sence for Delfouneso.

It is no harm to get a player or two in that could be a potential transfer in the summer such as Cox that will improve the team. The loan allows the manager to assess the player within the squad.
Look at Bullard, he has got on like a house on fire and has ignited this team :)
Now a potential transfer may be possible because we know what he would bring. Eliminates the unknown factor.

I say bring in good loan players that can improve the team with a view to possible transfers. Cox yes, Delfouneso no. Villa wont sell him as he is a player for that will figure in their first team squad in the near future.

It just always seem players turn us down and we get the same old s**t that they want to try and win place at parent club, then two minutes later they go elsewhere it cant be a coinsidence can it

What is it with Burnley? They seem to signing up everyone, Austin, Delfouneso. Yet none of these additions ever seems to get out on the pitch!! It's almost like they're trying to sign up everyone, just to stop clubs like ITFC getting anyone.

Might even be worth having a punt at someone like Craig Davies from Chesterfield or Adam Le Fondre from Rotherham.

Why the hell would Posh who are in the play off zone let their leading scorer leave on loan, and why the hell would he want to come to a club going nowhere, people on here really don't think straight do they, there are plenty of loan players about, the sad fact is we don't try very hard do we.
