Hull: Town Paying Bigger Share of Bullard's Wages
Hull: Town Paying Bigger Share of Bullard's Wages
Thursday, 27th Jan 2011 14:18

Hull City’s head of football operations Adam Pearson has dismissed claims that the Blues will only pay £10,000-a-week of loan signing Jimmy Bullard’s £45,000 weekly wage. Reports in East Yorkshire now claim the Blues will pick up around £20,000 of Bullard's earnings.

Pearson says the half-season switch will do the 32-year-old midfielder good: "Jimmy obviously hasn't been playing for us over recent weeks. It is close to his home down there, and the move may well be the spark he needs to kickstart his season.

“He needs to play games on a consistent basis to recapture his match fitness. Jimmy is undoubtedly a player of considerable talent and Paul Jewell knows that.

“The financial saving for the club is obviously considerable and far more than the Hull Daily Mail's speculation of £10,000 per week!

"The loan contribution from Ipswich for Jimmy more than pays for Corry Evans, Tijani Belaid and Cameron Stewart. “

Evans and Stewart are on loan at the KC Stadium from Manchester United, while Tunisian international Belaid has signed on a free transfer.

Unconfirmed reports in Hull claim that Town will pay 40% of Bullard's wages, which is around £20,000-a-week.

Is there something we don't know hear as they seem far more happy with two united youngsters and another new player than someone not good enough to get in their first team?

Clever buying by them.

.......but there is probably (hopefully) a clause that gives us a free transfer on much reduced wages at end of season.

or maybe not!

If you say we are paying £20k a week that would be around £300k till the end of the season.

Most loan have a fee attached, George Boyd loan from Peterborough to Notts Forrest was reported as £500k loan fee plus 30% of his wage.

So this might not be as expencive as it seems

He's made less than 60 starts in five years, and has barely had a run of starts since his injuries. Fitness and pacewise, he's going to be on a par with an older version of Colin Healy.

Let's face it, had Keane (or Magilton or Royle or Burley for that matter) signed an injury prone, 32 year old, former player of his on loan, this board would be going absolutely mental.

Charlie Austin on the other hand will be a great signing if we pull it off - he's not just a profilic striker, but looks a very intelligent player as well.

He's sounding like an old banger and hasn't even been taken out for a spin on Sunday afternoon yet.

Bullard will barely play due to fitness, and is by all accounts an a***hole and difficult to manage. Very expensive red herring- mark my words. Austin on the other hand- if we pull this off, transfer coup of the last 5 years...if not 10!

Wrong Campag_Velocet, if keane had signed jimmy bullard I would be very impressed, although 'keane out' would still have been my main view!

Hull would say that, and as we know sc and me will not be held to ransom. I would be suprised if we pay more than 15k a week.

good deal for me, its a loan signing so surely if he's crap he goes back, if he's injured he goes back. what's the risk in that? Welcome Jimmy!

Even if we pay half his wages, say 22000 a week, we will only roughly spend around 350,000 in total up until May. Seems like a good deal to me, considering Keane payed 1.7 mill for Lee Martin.

This brings up the point about the parachute payment these clubs get.its totally unfair how r we all supose 2 compete when some clubs ie hull, newcastle last year can pay anyone 45,000 a week.

If money were a real issue, we wouldn't have got him on loan - the club's a lot smarter than people on here seemingly give it credit for. He's a top quality player and, as Evans clearly considers it to be financially viable and Jewell is very happy with the deal, I don't see any problem whatsoever with this. He has experience, a good range of passing and a lethal shot on him. Yes he's slightly injury prone and it's impossible to guarantee that he will stay for his entire duration here. Still, he's evidently passed his medical and I can't wait to see him unveiled alongside Austin tomorrow.

Meh, don't like the sound of that but he's here so make most of it. Just hope they don't hike up the season ticket prices next year to fund it

not a bad signing if we can keep him fit.........BUT how can we afford him and not a new contract for norris, mcauley or delaney!!!!!!!!please sign up these play before they get taking off use for nothing.

bluelady added 16:10 - Jan 27
its Hull saving face, they have made a big enough hash of his contract as it is to say we were paying only a small proportion would be more egg on face

TimmyH added 16:17 - Jan 27
Why a new contract for Delaney? - hasn't he only been here a season. I think Bullards worth a gamble for 4 months and as previously mentioned even if he only comes on for his dead ball skills or only 30 minutes a game although I must admit his wages are a bit extravagant.

Norris, Leadbitter, Hyam, Healy & Kennedy can all do the same, a solid holding job in midfield. Bullard provides something we dont have from the middle and that is creativity and vision.
Norris provides great energy and enthueasim. If he stays than its Norris (right mid), Leadbitter, Bullard and O Connor. WIth Edwards as RB.
Bullard can also play behind main striker or strikers in a 4-3-1-2.
If Norris goes we have Carlos at right mid and another at RB.

Edwards has become a key player!

Why are some of you fools keep going on about magilton and keane?
We are in the paul jewell era now. Who gives a flying f**k what they would have done or not done! Some of you keyboard warriors need to wake up and smell the coffee or something stimulating!

Oh dear - this sounds like a lot of money for an injury prone player. £20K per week plus a loan fee no doubt. I hope this doesn't rock the boat with the other players. Big risk.

La_Paz added 17:17 - Jan 27
Even at that money I reckon it's a decent punt. Who was the last Town player who has made the full England squad? It's been a while. He gets a lot of stick for his ridiculous wages, but what should he have done, turn them down? After a couple of bad injuries and an unhappy time at Hull, you would hope he feels he has plenty to prove, and if it doesn't work out then we're not saddled with a long term financial problem. We haven't had anyone who can take a dead ball for ages, and as long as he is up to it physically then I can't wait to see him in a Town shirt.
