QPR's Leigertwood Linked
QPR's Leigertwood Linked
Thursday, 6th Jan 2011 09:35

Town are targeting QPR midfielder Mikele Leigertwood, according to a report in one of this morning’s tabloids. The 28-year-old is currently on loan with Reading but his spell ends on January 25th.

The Blues are claimed to be ready to make a £1 million offer for the Antigua and Barbuda international, however, a loan move appears more likely with owner Marcus Evans appearing less than willing to provide manager Roy Keane with that sort of cash at the present time.

Reading boss Brian McDermott has been hugely impressed with Leigertwood, who is contracted to QPR until 2012, during his time at the Madejski Stadium and hopes to sign him either permanently or on another loan when his current spell is up. An extended stay with the Royals appears rather more likely than a move to Portman Road.

Enfield-born Leigertwood started his career with Wimbledon and has subsequently played for Leyton Orient (loan), Crystal Palace and Sheffield United, joining QPR from the Blades for £900,000 in the summer of 2007.

No truth in this whatsoever. He's under 30, never played for Sunderland and isn't Irish.

Reading are due to sign him.

looks like he's been loaned out to some pretty big clubs! lol - I think we'll pass on him, looks like a journeyman.

Yep, 4 clubs in 12 years as a pro.... a real journeyman.

Won't happen, will sign for Reading. We have enough midfielders anyway at the club.

well I bet that's where his career goes from now on - certainly not the sort of quality of player we need, I think it will just add to the confusion for Keane of what his starting 11 will be if he keeps adding players to the squad.

Well people its's Thursday and us fans were told that something would happen either Wednesday or Thursday................We are waiting.

Actually think he's a pretty decent player but not in the position we need. Also, as if he's going to choose Town over Reading!

Just what we need, another midfielder who's not good enough to get into the QPR first team - if he ain't good enough for them, he shouldn't be good enough for us.

The only thing that comes out out of portman road these days is silly rumours, crap from Keane and loads of spin.

I think he is a really good player.

But I agree it is not a position we need to more players and at a cost of €1mil.
Greg Halford would be a good permanent signing for the same price. He is currently on loan to Porthsmouth from Wolves I think. Would sort out the troublesome RB spot.

rate this guy but irrelevant as others have pointed out will he choose a team that is on its way out of the Championship on current form, i think not!

Would you come here instead of Reading who are in/around the play-offs?!

Would be cheaper to hire a wrecking ball than the way this club's being taken apart by Keane.

Is he holding Marcus Evans' family hostage somewhere??...cos for the life of me I can't see why ME's so loyal to this clown.

What a load of hot air. If we manage to sign anyone, irish, sunderland, loanee, journeyman or lower league player, i'll never post on here again. It's Keane until the end of the season and then League 1.

As I have said before if he is sticking with Keano then he MUST GET IN AN ASSISTANT MANAGER TO HELP HIM because he is not going to do it on his own, in the back of his mind he already knows this. So come on Marcus SORT IT OUT !!!

imagine what the attendances would be if we got relegated - a few old town girls, some ex players from yonder year and a dog (free entrance). Sack Keane and get some new enthusiasm into the club.

This is a joke, he'll never take Ipswich over Reading.
The specualtion is great. Last time I said Rory Fallon would come in on-loan (and was shot down in flames by nearly everyone on the site). 2 days later he was here. This time its Jack Midson guys (IF they can agree a deal!). Colback will probably move on due to transfer fee. Its bad days when a player like Kilbane takes Huddersfield as a better option than Ipswich. Says it all......

He has 2 assistants already brittaniaman, cheaper to get shot and get somebody in who knows what they are doing and get rid of him. not sure he would take much notice anyway if he did have more help.

BlooooCD added 10:49 - Jan 6
No point getting the arrogant swine an assistant -There is no way he would listen to anyone... He knows it all!!!Who would want to work with him anyway? FORK

Another midfielder eh?

Is this the young, creative one from the lower leagues we've been dreaming about then?

Right now I'd prefer Marco Rojas, but that's because he's a joy to watch, and there's a chance that he'd lose all that if he came here. Which he wouldn't anyway, because he's too young and creative etc.

i have seen him play and i agree this just shows these are desperate times at PR, he is awful to be polite. So Keane will sign him, 5 million ... a week lol

ArnieM added 11:21 - Jan 6
No doubt he will be Colback's replacement !
