Town Dismiss Bust-Up Claim
Town Dismiss Bust-Up Claim
Tuesday, 14th Dec 2010 10:01

Town have denied a claims of a bust-up between manager Roy Keane and defender Damien Delaney.

An exchange in training had been claimed to have developed into blows with the former QPR man told he wouldn’t play for the Blues again, but a club spokesman has dismissed the story out of hand: "Ipswich Town Football Club categorically refutes the malicious suggestion that an incident took place between the manager and Damien Delaney."

Meanwhile, a source close to Delaney has made a similar denial in the Irish papers: "Damien is aware of these rumours, the club chief executive has already been onto him about them.

"He utterly refutes any suggestion that a dispute with Keane escalated to the point that they had to be pulled apart. It’s a complete joke, there’s nothing to the story."

The Ireland international has been left out of the Blues’ 18 for the two games since he returned from his one-match ban for his red card at Norwich.

Speaking on Friday, prior to the visit to Preston, Keane explained his reasons for leaving his fellow Irishman out of his squad: “Damien was suspended for the West Brom game when the team kept a clean sheet and I thought played reasonably well. I didn’t think there was any reason to change it.

“Damo had a run out in the reserves in the week and he’ll have a chance of being involved on Saturday.”

i fail to realise that most people on here dont know M.E is not as rich or wont spend the money to improve the team...There are loanees at the club because there is no money to buy anybody ! As a " keano " fan i still believe he will come good.....he has to work with young players with little experience....lots of high earners at the club were released to cut down on the wages...the decision was made buy the top management to cut costs to the bone....not keanes fault !!....another " myth " is componsation !! keane left Sunderland because there was interference from Ellis Short and left with no compensation !!!......keane is a rich man and does not need to work but it does it to be the best he can......i personally think Ipswich are lucky to have him....some of the drivel on here by certain people is mad....they do not even check their information !

tipperary your support is admirable, and if the manager was tactically astute i would tend to agree, however how can you explain Delaney not making the bench even, Peters being dropped after playing out of his skin against WBA, Prisken being our best striker yet repeadedly taken off early then dropped to the bench saturday. Townsend being a quality true left winger who takes on and worries the life out of defenders being taken off early or dropped to the bench? If you can come up with a valid argument the backs keane in those decisions im with you...........

RK may have had some justification in starting games with the centre backs who played against WBA, but there is no reason given for not having Delaney in the squad, Drop him to the bench by all means, but dropping him out of the squad smacks of a punishment for something which to date has not been explained. As someone in an earlier post said, he made one mistake and was harshly sent off, HAVING ALREADY SCORED A GOAL.

Obviously he deserved to be punished by being left completely out of the squad for two matches, both of which we lost.

Will be interesting to see if he makes the final 18 on Saturday. Personally, I think Keane feels he has to play smith after his world cup performances but I think he needs a rest. What would have happened at Preston if Smith or Brown got injured?? Very short sighted again from Keane.

This is the most down I have ever felt about ITFC, I work with Palace fans, a Doncaster fan, a leeds fan and cardiff and they can't believe we have still got him. They just laugh. The stats say it all.

Time for the fans who want Keane out (?circa 85%) to stand up and be counted on Saturday and be heard. I will always support the team but I am not going to hold back.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to see Keano walk away!!

KEANE OUT.

As i've said before. THE PLAYERS HAVE LET US DOWN not the manager!!
Every single game we create goal scoring chances....do we take them? Do we f**k!!!
Our defence makes sunday league mistakes most games.
Now is does not matter if you play for Ipswich Town, Colchester, Real Madrid etc etc etc if you play like that at at the back and dont take your goal scoring chances then you WILL BE PUNISHED!!!!!
Look at the Swansea game, Priskin should have buried his shot which would have made us 2-0 up! Smith should have kicked that ball into row z instead of trying to dribble it out. The Norwich game, O'dea should have kicked that ball over the roof of the stand!
Every single goal in football is the result of a mistake on the pitch somewhere, be it a missed pass on the halfway line or failed clearance.
Its the players who are making the basic mistakes and not taking their chances infront of goal and letting the manager, fans, and club down!
Could you honestly see Scotland, Wickham or priskin getting the same goals as Grant Holt did if they were given the same goal scoring chances??? They would have missed every shot they had.
Yes i know the manager buys these players and sorts out tactics etc etc, but on the pitch all players should feel proud to wear the ITFC shirt and give 100% every single game. They should fight for every single ball, tackle, shot etc.
I dont see that out there at all most match days!
Where are the Matt Hollands, Tony Mowbrays, David Johnsons & Jim Magiltons out there on that pitch?
ITFC is in serious trouble, we have a ego tripped manager and players who feel no pride what so ever to pull on the blue shirt of ITFC. Maybe Norris does (When he is not injured) and maybe G-Mac but the others??? Not a chance!!
