Keane: Poor Decision-Making Let Us Down
Keane: Poor Decision-Making Let Us Down
Sunday, 28th Nov 2010 16:29

Town boss felt his team was made to pay for poor decision making after the 4-1 defeat to Norwich City at Carrow Road. Keane refused to criticise referee Keith Hill for Grant Holt’s controversial first goal or Damien Delaney’s red card just before half-time.

Keane said: “Poor decision-making and giving teams a helping hand has cost us. It was a long second half and it was very hard for us to get back into it. We took a bit of a gamble in the last 15 or 20 minutes and we opened the door to conceding more goals.

“It doesn’t matter what I think about the sending off. Let’s not waste our time and energy talking about whether there was cover, whether he actually pulled him back, the ball should have been cleared, simple as that. Same for the first goal.

“I’m not going to sit here and question the officials, there’s been enough of that over the last few weeks from other managers and other countries.”

The Blues boss felt his players made it difficult for themselves: “In any game of football, whether you’re a professional or an amateur, you’ve got to do the basics right and we didn’t do that today, whether that’s for the first couple of goals or the sending off. You make it very hard for yourself.

“At 2-1, even though we’d gifted two goals away, I think we were very much in the game. It was pretty open, they were causing us problems, but I thought we’d be OK. But then there was the sending off not long before half-time.

“We’re not good enough to be giving away goals like that and to be playing with 10 men. We’ve not won the last few games with 11.

“With 10 it wasn’t impossible because at 2-1 we were keeping it tight and trying to nick something on the break or from a set piece, but it wasn’t to be.”

Keane admits that he’s under pressure after four successive defeat and with the Blues having dropped to 16th but says it comes with the territory: “When you lose matches, it creates pressure but that comes with the job. You know that when you come into it and you’ve got to deal with it.”

Norwich manager Paul Lambert was delighted with Canaries hat-trick hero Grant Holt: “I thought Grant was unplayable at times. I thought him and Chris Martin were a handful right from the off and when those two play the way they can do, we’ve always got a chance.”

I have been supportive of Keane from day 1 and have had some barney's with some of you on here in the process but am now eating humble pie and admit that Keane HAS TO GO NOW!! The club is in such a mess and shambles at the moment and the total lack of passion that I saw today was an absolute joke. We need a new man in now with fresh ideas and who can make that tactically astute change when things are not going your way and you need to get yourselves back in the game. Healy for Scotland when we are 2-1 what the f**k was that all about??!! KEANE OUT, COYB

First time I've seen Ipswich this season as I live in Northern Ireland, however been following via web and radio. Whilst watching, I actually ran out of adjectives to say how bad they were. In every position. Worse than the bad old days, the money being spent, we're actually going backwards. Was it better under Burley, Royle or Magilton? Certainly wasn't worse

Well if Curbs is so good, why has he not had a job in age's Keaneish? Anyway we want a good manager, not just a decent one.

"Poor decision making let us down" I agree, the biggest one being selecting you as manager. Keane out, Martin O'Neill in!

Can't argue with the team he selected to start, but the subs were just a joke. What was the thinking in in taking off a striker to bring on a midfielder when we're losing? RK must think he's Harry Potter, wave a magic wand and every thing will be fine. Sorry Roy it doesn't work that way. FFS listen to some advice before we're relegated.

As for the team performance it reflected the Managers approach - tentative at best, downright pitiful for the most part. Every picture shot of RK showed him chewing his gum and unsuccessfully trying to blow bubbles. Summed the day up for me!

I don't usually take things to heart but this result is really hurting. Wish I could find that wretched cat.

We gave away poor goals today school boy stuff. The only postive to take today the support was first class today lots of passion and noise and proud of are roots however. Roy Keane is not getting the best out of are players results prove that. We were second best today and this game will hurt us for some time. I want to put this politely it time for Keane to go believe me I can post much more words on here but I let all my frustration at the game today. Its about time Evans and Clegg make the change it has to happen now no more excuses. Im no loger behind Roy Keane and im sure im not the only one. FORK

Total embarrassment, time for Roy to walk or else we're going down. Away draw to Chelsea is the icing in the cake of a terrible day.

I heard Delaney got sent off on purpose so we have no recognised centre backs and to make RK's position untennable

If you want a clue as to how our season is going to end under Keane just go back two seasons and look at Norwich then. There are a lot of similarities between them then and us now including the amount of loan players used, players who couldn't care less how the teams does as they will just head back to their own clubs while this club picks up the pieces with even fewer players as how many will sign a new contract if we are in a relegation fight?

Suicidal defending cost us today - strangely before the sending off I thought we looked better going forward than for some time!

It has to be said though that Keane looks completely out of his depth. Evans needs to make changes now before its too late. Forget the playoffs, we are only four points off a relegation place with the worst current form in the Championship.

We need a manager who knows what he's doing, and we need him now!

Errrrr....maybe he fancied a break!? Maybe he wanted to spend some of his 2 million quid law suit on a new Hornby Train set he's been collecting since he was a boy!? I don't know, but if you think Curbs would be a bad fit for this club then i'd love to hear a valid argument for it. Who do you want DenhamBlue?

O'Driscoll, O'Neill or Curbs for me.

Definitely not, Megson or Pardew.

Keane, do the decent thing and walk away before you kill our club you are clueless tactically, and the football we are served by your team is awfull.

Two fairly good teams, one competent manager, one thug in a suit. 4-1.

Keane won't walk, he never did the decent thing as a player, why start now?

So it's up to Evans, Mr "Big Businessman". Sadly he's a ticket tout whose "football friends" sold him the Roy Keane hype. He'll see sense soon enough - 7 defeats in 9 is hurting crowds/his pocket - but don't expect a sensible replacement. Oh no, it'll be another TV star, someone to impress his corporate package buyers.

Rumour that he met Alan Shearer ten days ago ...

Keane hasn't got a clue!
When we were 2-1 down he took of a striker and brought on a defensive midfielder...
Then brought off zuiverloon, who was probably the best player on the pitch at the time, running down the right and getting crosses in for fallon.. a striker yes but what it is goalscoring record again? Plus he looked awful when he was on. Then switching edwards to right back when we need to be attacking.. why not just leave zuiverloon on and take edwards off?! Then to add salt to the wounds when we're 4-1 down he takes off Priskin (working his socks off) for a centre back?! Why didn't he do that when he subbed scotland?!

I'm a massive town fan and always have been, but Keane's time is simply up. We're far worse than we were with Jim Magilton in charge in his reign, and half of the players he'd got in have been useless, does Conor Hourihane even exist?

And look at Pablo scoring a brilliant goal for palace yesterday, one of Magilton's signings and he's doing brilliantly under a different reign.

And is it just me or is anyone else thinking the loan signing of Zuiverloon will have anything to do with Keane fielding a weaker side against West Brom on wednesday?

"Keane: Poor Decision Making Let Us Down"

not to mention the squad selection, substitutions and tactics. I have posted quite a bit today because i cannot believe what i am seeing at this club but the icing on the cake for me is the signing of Fallon WTF?? i posted previously that this is just gonna get worse and it will resemble the same kinda madness that hitler showed in his bunker in the last days of WWII (i am not over reacting as you see today , we are f.....d unless keane and clegg are removed very quickly) the right back looks like another bit of wasted money (D.Wright was better i assure you) and the signings are just gonna get worse and the tactics more laughable because keane is as bad as hitler when it comes to descisions.
pLEASE ALL IPSWICH FANS YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER OUR SEASON IS IRRELEVANT NOW WHILE THIS IDIOT IS HERE, FROM THE MOMENT THE DOORS OPEN AT PORTMAN ROAD AGAINST WBA WE NEED TO CHANT AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE, KEANE OUT!! CLEGG OUT!!
please dont respond with support the team and that rubbish because we can all see now Keane is our enemy and needs to be removed!!!

With good coaching, players tend not to make that many 'poor decisions'.

Zouiverloon appeared to be completely clueless in the game, as he was about the history of Dutch footballers at ITFC in a recent interview! 1 month loan only I think.

What we need is a tubby cheat with a tache!

Back_The_Boss added 19:14 - Nov 28
What on earth was O'dea doing for the first goal!? I thought that Keane was tactically very poor expecially substituting Zuiverloon. Zuiverloon did ok, and for the first time this season our right back got past the half way line. Also, when you are 2-1 down why go more defensive, we need a goal for goodness sake and playing 1 upfront is never going to achieve that.

Carlos Edwards at right back, pathetic.

Note. We have never scored 4 under Keane, I wonder why that is?

Goodnight Roy, it's been emotional. In perspective, this was my worst afternoon of football EVER. My first match was 1974. It's not a case or wrong players or skill levels. We have all of that. It's tactics, formations, motivation, substitutions. Everything in your sphere of control Roy. As such do this fine club a favour and leave gracefully. I'm not angry, just sad.
