Kennedy: Blame Us, Not the Manager
Kennedy: Blame Us, Not the Manager
Monday, 15th Nov 2010 10:57

Saturday’s stand-in skipper Mark Kennedy says it’s the players who are to blame for the Blues’ poor form and not manager Roy Keane. Kennedy returned to the side for the 3-1 home defeat to Barnsley after a hamstring injury, only to suffer another one during the second half.

Kennedy said: “This is nothing to do with the manager. The team that goes out there is well prepared. He sets us up well.

“When we cross that line we have to do the business, and at the moment we are not doing it. We’ve got to stop giving away such silly goals. Conceding a third goal early in the second half killed off the game.

“It was just one of those days. But we are still only two points off the play-offs. I think the division is more open this year. With the exception of the top two, it’s much closer between the top and the bottom.”

After Saturday’s game Keane said Kennedy and midfielder Luke Hyam both sustained hamstring injuries and would miss the trip to Hull next Saturday. Central defender Gareth McAuley (achilles tendinitis) and David Norris (ankle) will also be miss out. Despite the injuries Keane said he had no immediate intention of adding to his squad.

like buffoons like you who keep coming in and then doing thier hamstrings. Same old crap being spouted off again, blame us and not the manager rubbish we've given him 18 months and its only getting worse. Seriously how many clubs would have stuck with this garbage for so long, breaking so many records (the wrong ones) along the way?? Its pathetic and its not how I want my beloved club to be seen. He's lost the fans, and I don't see anyway back now.

I agree with this, Keanooooooooooo! Keanoooooooooo! he is the man for Ipswich Town Football Club!!

Nice too see someone sticking up for Keane but it does not help when your 2-0 down and come back out second half with a 4-5-1 formation at home and then take off Priskin who was the best player on the day and bring on Wickham

Hmmm, I've not been doing so well at the club... injuries, bad form, going unnoticed... what can I do? How can I get myself into the gaffer's good books?

ahhhhh...

"The manager? He's awesome - what a guy, we all love him, he's a tactical genius!!! His people-skills are sublime, he really brings out the best in all of us - we NEVER feel intimidated, or stultified by fear... The results? They're nothing to do with our illustrious leader - we're all to blame. Yeah, I know he bought us and he chooses us each week and that he tells us how to play, but you can't blame him when it all goes wrong - it's OUR fault I tell you..."

There, that should get me back in the team - what do you mean my colleagues think I am a grovelling, sycophantic little creep... Hmmm, what can I do to win them over... ?

Redmond..

Fully agree with that, taking Priskin off was a daft idea. I really don't rate Connor Wickham I think we should take the money!! He hasn't impressed me this season! If he was that good he should of found the net this season. Smith has twice and he is a defender!!!

we pay the money to watch this, i think we can blame who we want

A typical 'Evening Star' type news story.
What WOULD be newsworthy would be if one of the players said "Actually we're doing the best we can : it's the manager's fault" or "Morale is really low : I hate going to work"

Comments from a player who is on meal ticket - what else would he say. We should never have signed the bloke.

Blame the players whom Keane has signed.....

As a manager your judged on results, performances and transfers and Keane has failed.

Ever since Evans has come in our club has become a joke

I think Clegg is responsable for the transfers, come one Keane done as he was told, move players out and identify who you would like to bring in, Keane delivered, Clegg failed!! FACT

I certainly blame the manager..

The last 18 months have been dour, restless, miserable and just simply uncomfortable at ITFC..stodgy football, poor decisions on and off the field, good players let go,poor ones brought in..just an absolute mess and a negative vibe from one day to the next...the odd couple of wins here and there and we go up a few places but that's just papering over the cracks.

Yeah we're 2 points out of the play-offs but in all honesty if you asked me whether i'd want to see us get promoted with the way things are at our club at the moment i'd say a very big no...there's a right way of going up(the Burley way - even if it did take a few season's,they were very enjoyable seasons) and a wrong way (the current way/kean'es sunderland way - boring 1-0 wins).

I can't believe our owner accepts what's going on...are he and Clegg that stubborn or just that stupid?

So was it Pejic who insisited on taking Priskin off on Saturday, and we now know it was the players fault for everyhting else v Derby/Barnsley. Much clearer now thanks.

Keane has the worst win ratio of any Ipswich manager ..FACT
Keane has spent £10million on attacking players yet we score less goals than the team he inherited ..FACT
The team has no width/pace/shape/passing ability /set piece ability in defence or attack ...FACT
We have two many players playing badly out of position...FACT
The players look scared to play for themselves and deviate from the hoof ball..FACT
Crowds are dwindling due to the poor football ...FACT
Insulted the fans by telling us we knew nothing about football...FACT
Connor Wickham is 17 and will have a great career if managed correctly ...FACT
Keanes transfer/loans success rate has been very hit and miss -why would anyone seriously give him more money ?
Its a shame Keane doesnt do as he is told now and leave

KEANE OUT :-)

Said my piece in the past on how I view Mr keane. The addition to this would be to point out that he spent £40 at Sunderland to get them up. You Clough spent what 9 years at Burton Albion learning his trade, very well I'd say, Mr Warnock learned his trade at Scarborough.

OK Keane goes - who do we replace him with? Another failed manager? I'm no huge fan of the current set up but there is little better out there.

"Its Keane's fault" - FACT

whoppit added 12:09 - Nov 15
Keane signed most of you Mark so the fault is Keane's !!! The manager is ultimately responsible for the results and Keane is skating on thin ice.

Mark added 12:25 - Nov 15
So Mark Kennedy is telling us that we should blame the likes of Damien Delaney and Tom Eastman, who were played out of position, or youngsters such as Smith, Colback, Livermore and Townsend, who seemed to be doing their best? Perhaps if we had full-backs at the club who could pass the ball and get forward to help out the midfield and attack, then these players would be more effective?

“This is nothing to do with the manager.", who buys the players, sets the culture, selects the team, chooses the tactics, make the substitutions... ???

Sadly it looked like Kennedy can be added to the long list of recent poor signings, especially on a 2-year contract!

Keaneish added 12:26 - Nov 15
Nah. Not buying that one Kennedy. Players don't take off your only goalscoring threats or pick centre backs to play at full back. Too late for the 'stick up for the manager rhetoric for me i'm afraid. Maybe if O'Connor had played instead of you Mark you wouldn't be injured...AGAIN! That's not the player's fault either!

Can every one please calm down!

Two weeks ago RK was doing a decent job and after last week he is the worst manager in history.
Its a hard league with an enormous amount of games. Our squad is young and limited (blame RK and/or the owner; it is what it is), they are trying to develop the youngsters which is a credit to them. Im the first to admit that the football style played by RK is defensive and rigid. Not a great crowd pleaser and that last two games very disappointing.
But I really believe that if we can stay around the top 10 come Christmas we can have a very good second half of the league. We will get our key players fit and back playing & gelling again. I must say Norris is our most important player, McAuley not far behind. Last season with out Chuck we struggled really badly and we have missed him now while he has been out. Its getting the consistancy in the second half of the season thats crucial.

Chuck is out for Hull but if we can beat them, our away form has been good and stuff the Canaries we can look forward to West Brom at the beginning of Dec.
The next two weeks are vital for us. Please get behind the team now more than ever. If the players have no confidence going in to the derby game its going to be extra tough.
Im not a Keane fan but please wait till after these keys games before calling for heads!! Do it for the younger players.

The players need our support!! C'mon you blues!!!
