Edwards in Team of the Week
Tuesday, 2nd Nov 2010 08:57

Midfielder Carlos Edwards has been named in the Championship Team of the Week for his performance in Town’s 2-0 victory over Millwall on Saturday.

Earlier in the week, the former Sunderland man netted his second goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-1 Carling Cup victory over Northampton.

Striker Jason Scotland was the last Blues player to make the division’s select side, back at the end of August.

Team of the Week: Keiren Westwood (Coventry), Kevin McNaughton (Cardiff), Ian Harte (Reading), Andrew O’Brien (Leeds), Liam Fontaine (Bristol City), Richie Wellens (Leicester), Jonathan Howson (Leeds), Carlos Edwards (Ipswich), Adam Hammill (Barnsley), Tomasz Cywka (Derby), Paul Gallagher (Leicester).

I think Carlos has been sheer class this season and am pretty sure is flourishing now JW has gone as imagine it was him who kept him out of the side last season.

he has come on recently, but as ever,we get someone improve but another ''go off'' i dont think Leadbitter has been near as good as last season, if only we could have em all on form, thats football i suppose.

Thoroughly deserved, far better this season and a good performance Saturday.

On another note, did anyone watch the West Brom game last night? This is going to be a very tough ride to get through to the semi's, which we all knew anyway but highlighted by their performance against Blackpool.

For me we have to have both Kennedy and Peters in the full back slots but keep the midfield tight and narrow. Colback is going to have to play left side of midfield for that game an nullify Brunt if he plays but the pace they play with and their movement off the ball is frightening when you look at our recent performances! Our midfield will need to be on top of their game...which they haven't been for weeks now!

Still, it is the cup....anything can happen right!?

Well done and all that....but does it amount to much?? Maybe team of the month, but then again we all slag off the manager of the month.

I am staggered that McAuley (particularly) and Delaney are not featuring in Championship team of the week on a regular basis.

Moscow_Blue have to agree about out two twin towers, for me probably the best partnership in the championship. I think Edwards deserves this, really has come into his own - funny that his form raised as JW left, clearly Edwards is a Prisken type player and thrives on being picked and NOT on having competition for a place and constantly being dropped as he was last season.

On form edwards is a brilliant player with his speed, long throw and his finish. If he plays like this all the time he will be player of the season and will help us alot to our promotion.

Keanish - Unfortunately Colback is cup-tied, so wont be nullifying any of West Broms midfield
