Keane-Wickham Row Claim
Keane-Wickham Row Claim
Sunday, 31st Oct 2010 09:30

Town boss Roy Keane is claimed to have had a row with star striker Connor Wickham in a report in one of this morning’s tabloids.

According to a wholly unconvincing piece in the Mail on Sunday, Keane’s position as manager is in doubt because of the alleged bust-up, with the club set to choose which of the pair remains at Portman Road in January.

The report claims the row stems from Wickham’s annoyance at being left out of the Town side at times this season, although his omission has largely been due to ankle injuries and a resultant lack of fitness.

Wickham, rated at £10 million and watched by most of the big Premier League names this season, came off the bench during the second half of Town's victory over Millwall on Saturday. Previously those whose relationships with Keane have been strained, such as Jon Walters and Ben Thatcher, have not been involved with the first team squad.

On Friday an upbeat Keane stated that the club had no intention of selling Wickham in January: “We’ve not thought about that. We don’t want to be selling any of our players."

Town don't comment on such speculative stories, but TWTD understands that there is no truth in the claims.

Blue Chick, even if CW does leave it will have diddly to do with this story..... if we believed half we read in the mail we'd have about 64 players now with the number then have linked us with over the past 12 months or so!

Good to see the positive (towards the manager) reaction of most fans... what a difference 12 months makes. And yes me too.

No smoke without fire, but Daily Mail? Bull Crud. ITFC is much bigger than both Keano and Wickham. I'd sell the boy tomorrow if it help Town Progress, but only if. I'd also sack Keano if it was right for the club, but right now it's not and both Keano and Wickham are contracted to do a job that whole mission is to improve the club and restore Premiership status.

Just watch Piers Morgan jump on this to critize RK, he has something about RK. I think RK has treated CW very fairly, he has no devine right to start until he has proved himself.

Just watch Piers Morgan elaborate on this in next weeks column in Mail on Sunday. He has a thing about RK. I think RK has treated CW fairly. CW has no devine rightto start a game until he has proved himself, which I am sure he will do, but needs to bide his time and be guided by RK.

Forgive me for not remembering who said it but this is a nice quote: "There is no news in the truth and no truth in the news".

As well as getting the sack from the Daily Mirror, dear old Piers is a 'mad' Arse-nil fan, and of course Keane used to reguarly be on the winning side against that mob.

Now just wait to see Piers Morgan's column in next weeks Mail on Sunday, he will be giving Keano plenty of stick, as he has a grudge against him for some reason. I think RK has played very fair with CW. CW has no devine right to start, but must prove himself first. Come on Connor, know what side your bread is buttered. Do you really think you would start at Spurs, Arsenal,Liverpool etc?

No smoke without fire! I find it surprising that now fit Connor has not started more matches. Is Keane trying not to make him too big for his boots? If so, that is good management, but...... there are agents about that undermnine the fabric of football integrity.... Keane has to manage this boy impeccably. Mess him about by putting him on the bench will antagonise his agents, they will get to him and he will be gone.

His 'agent' is the infamous Mr Barnett and his side kick former Town coach Paul 'Sarg' Goddard - don't worry (be very worried) they have a plan.
