Tractor Boy 24 I am sorry if I a make you nauseous

But

Quote

"Worst draw in the hat bar Brentford! And now I've got to pay to watch it. How about a deal for us loyal season ticket holders - rather then finding four friends who can get £25.00 tickets for a tenner how about letting us into this game from a tenner?"

and

Karlos

"Financially supporting them year on year despite the end of Royle/all of Magilton/start of Keane drivel we were rewarded with!"

Where did I say I was a better or greater fan than anybody? I said that those of us who hold season tickets fully support the club but purchasing our season ticket year on year. And now and again in would be nice if that loyalty was rewarded.

I am sure there are thousands of passionate fans unable to attend games and I don't consider themselves to be lesser fans because of it.

And whilst I am on my soap box is it me or did the terms of the season ticket change this year. Has my memory failed me or for the last few seasons were we told if we were promoted we would get 50% off our renewal the next season. This year offers us 50% rebate from this season should we get promoted. If the club hike up the ticket prices should we be in the premier league then this might not be much of a discount. If I am wrong please tell me!

big_gaz67 I completely agree with the crux of your argument. As a former season ticket holder for 6 years (until this season) it always used to annoy me that a season ticket neither equalled exemption from paying for the Carling Cup home games, nor did it even result in us receiving a discount (to my knowledge anyway).

However, my current position also leads me to empathise with Tractorboy24, with many lifelong Ipswich fans either living too far away or being unable to afford the extortionate prices that have become almost intrinsically connected with Portman Road in recent years (or as far as I can remember anyway). Retaining my season ticket whilst living in Scotland was not unfortunately a realistic option, nor admittedly did the love for my club override the reasons for making the move north of the border.

Therefore I was very happy to hear that the honchos at Ipswich Town had decided to sell discounted tickets for the Cardiff game, as I'm sure that the many supporters unable to invest in a season ticket (for financial reasons) made full use of that opportunity.

Still, far more could also be done to reward season ticket holders for their loyalty (especially on the back of a fairly dire last season - I write this even with my Keane-tinted spectacles on) and reducing the prices for the Northampton cup tie would be an excellent opportunity for the club to extend a warm gesture of their appreciation to the active weekly supporters.

Good draw (hopefully). Thought comments from sky and the management team at Northampton were a bit insulting to us ... we're still 2 divisions above them ... and not a million miles away geographically ... so not that bad a draw for them I would've thought!! Hope we thrash 'em!!

Personally, I think this is a fantastic draw as it gives us a massive CHANCE to progress to at least the quarters; not that I'm taking anything for granted as we've lost to plenty of lower league opposition over the past few seasons. I can't believe how negative SOME people are about this though - "boring draw; boring cup" etc etc.... if we were to draw Arsenal or Man U, I'd much rather it were in the final than the 4th round. As for the loyal supporters, season ticket holder, cheap tickets line... yawn! I'm sure many of the non-season ticket holders out there would be rightly offended by not being termed REAL supporters. On a related point though, I hope the club DO reduce the ticket prices and get some more through the gates. Northampton should bring a few too and could potentially fill the Cobbold as Gillingham did in the late 90s. COYB!!
