Keane Targeting Second Loanee
Keane Targeting Second Loanee
Monday, 20th Sep 2010 13:30

Town manager Roy Keane says he has spoken to a manager regarding a second potential loan signing. The Blues boss says he’s close on his first new addition, that deal having initially been expected to go through last week.

Keane said: “I still think we need three players, we’re pretty close on one. I spoke to a manager about another player this morning in a different position, and we’ll see.

“In an ideal world I’d want three players in on loan but we don’t live in an ideal world. I think we’re pretty close on one, but I said that two weeks ago and we’re still trying to get the deal done. We’re hopeful.”

The Town boss is likely to be looking for cover in midfield, while the second prospective signing may be a right-back with Tom Eastman, a left-sided centre-half, used there on Saturday.

Keane says that neither player is former loanee Jack Colback, although he admits he has spoken to Sunderland boss Steve Bruce about the 20-year-old: “There’s no news on that front and we’re focusing on the players we have at the club. They’re all doing really well, putting in good shifts.

“Jack did brilliantly for us last year, I’ve a lot of time for Jack, he’s a good lad, but he’s been involved in a lot of Sunderland’s games. I speak to Brucey on a regular basis and there’s no news on that.”

Keane will decide on what changes to make for Tuesday's Carling Cup tie at Millwall later today with one or two players carrying knocks, while the likes of Connor Wickham and Darren O‘Dea have only just returned from injuries. He confirmed, however, that Brian Murphy will start in goal.

The Blues boss, who refused to comment on the weekend interview with Jon Walters, confirmed that striker Kevin Lisbie is not available for selection for Millwall under the terms of his loan.

We could do with a few extra players. Early signs are very promising though. COYB!

Our signings always seem to be long drawn out affairs , is this due to our senior men or other clubs ? All the time this happens it frustrates RK and the long suffering supporters !

That is a shame about Lisbie. Now they will bring in a goalscorer as a replacement!

Disappointed Lisbie isnt available for selection for the game against Milwall. Would have meant we kept a clean sheet for that one.

Glad Keane didnt say anything more about Walters. Best to just let that one die down. I guess with a controversial manager like keane, you can expect journos to go out of their way to get a reaction.

It will be either of these; J. Mattock, L. Moore (WBA), D. Rose (Spurs), Colback (Sun)

I think that a right back is a must. Peters is okay, but clearly lacks the height and strength against the more physical sides. Midfield for cover is important, whilst being greedy another striker would be good (Priskin still flatters to deceive).

Not Mattock , we do not need another left back !

How about Robbie Keane? If the taffs can get Belamy and Keane played for Celtic last year why not?

i think deals for players coming into PR do take forever but i also think its because keane tells us he is trying to bring someone in as soon as he decides he needs someone whereas most managers dont say anything.
glad we have roy keeping us in touch.

I hate to harp on about it but since nobody has mentioned it i just thought i'd throw GIOOOOOOO into the mix again?

Spurs have a squad full of attacking players and since the addition of Van der Vaart will he get much of a look in at the Lane this season!

..
I CAN DREAM CAN'T I ???

Hargreaves would be a great addition - might get a couple of games out of him before he's crocked again!

Re comments about drawn out transfers - I wonder if it's always been like this but just since the days of regular press briefings, forums, etc, we're just able to speculate a lot more for a lot longer about things we really don't know much about!

Inside transfer talk. Steve McCall stated earlier last week that Keane is still pursuing Jack Colback, so i'm 99% certain he is one of them.
