The judicial review aimed at overturning Ipswich Borough Council's planning permission for the North Stand has begun at the High Court. Local residents Rose Malster and David Cox are seeking to have planning permission withdrawn halting work on the new stand.

Rose Malster's counsel, Eleanor Sharpston QC, told replacement judge Mr Justice Sullivan: "This is not an anti-football case. It is a case where we say that even in the Premiership one plays by the rules. We say the rules here merited that an environmental impact assessment should have been held. That would have enabled a balanced view to be taken as to the adverse impact, which we say is a clear one, from the proposed North Stand."

Ipswich Borough Council say that everything was done properly and above board, a view the club concur with.
