Walters Hits Back at Keane
Walters Hits Back at Keane
Sunday, 19th Sep 2010 09:53

Former Blue Jon Walters has hit back at Roy Keane in one of this morning’s tabloids, claiming that he had to send a photo of his vomit to the Town boss in order to prove he was suffering from a virus ahead of the Exeter Carling Cup tie.

In an interview with the News of the World, Walters says he is by no means the "bad egg” he was claimed to be at the time of his £2.75 million move to Stoke City and says he missed the Exeter match because he was genuinely ill.

Walters said: “We had Exeter away and all during the week everybody in my family had a vomiting bug. So I quarantined myself from the wife and kids to try and avoid it.

"But at 3am on the Tuesday morning I was throwing up. I even took a picture of my sick and sent it to the physio because I knew Roy wouldn't believe me, what with it being a cup tie, clubs being interested in me and all that sort of thing.”

Walters has made five starts and has scored one goal since moving to the Britannia Stadium last month.

" I even took a picture of my sick and sent it to the physio because I knew Roy wouldn't believe me"

Then Keane didn't ask for it lol.

To be fair Walters didn't deserve all the stick but I don't miss him, times move on.

Walters did obviously engineer his move but I can kind of believe this. Having a psychopath as a boss would drive any sane person to take photos of his own vomit, for various reasons. Good luck in the EPL John. From the past few weeks showings, you'll deffo need it.

Good luck in Prem Jon, i agree you will need it, you will need to rediscover your form of a couple of years ago, so Town can get the top ups on your transfer fee but you do have it in you to do just that.As for having a pop at the manager of the club that brought you back into the limelight its beneath you whatever the truth. My advice is concentrate on your football.

Walters - i thought was a big mistake to let go. Apparently not, i do not miss his presents so Walters shut and move on if you are a professional. You are coming over to me as an bighead that is very over rated - the transfer fee was good business. However no hard feeling all the best JW.

Jon know what, who really cares mate eh? all i care about is that without you my team are doing a damn site better than they were with you - oh and i see your legendary goal scoring has continued in the prem, remind me how many have you scored? Really liked you in your time at town, what i dont like is when people cant move on and have to get their handbags out, like i said whatever the reasons i really dont care! Dont wish badly of you, hope your career goes well, but bit of advice concerntrate on the game not playing the media.

Agree with bluelady, I thought I'd miss JW much more than I actually have. Suspect that says more about him than he'd possibly admit. I heard a Stoke fan complaining that he was one of the worst players he'd ever seen in the red and white stripes. It appears that one decent season is all the bloke's got in him, and we had that. I sort of wish him well, but won't be surprised if he's back in the Championship rather sooner than he planned....

I'm taking this with a pinch of salt. Its the News Of The World. Having read the article, this vomit photo story could well have just stemmed from a completely different angle, such as the reporter asking Jon what he though his chances of playing for Ireland were now that he's in the Prem. Plus Jon says he sent the photo of his own accord, thinking that he should because he was concerned Roy wouldn't believe him, and not that Roy "made him take a photo as proof".
Walters has been an important player for us, certainly under Magilton, but a simple clash of personalities between Jon and Roy meant that he lost his form. In the end we got great money for him, and all parties are now happier.

cant say i would blame keane for not trusting him, he proved himself to be a big time charlie and it wont be long before he is a bench warmer at stoke.

Last winter walters was snowed in at home and had to send Keano some snow to prove it! Keano rang him the next day to say that he got the drift.

Well said Bluelady, couldn't agree more.

maimeetang: Why do you think roy is a "Psychopath"? Where do you get this nonsense from? In his playing days Roy Keane the footballer was a pillar of talent and at times agression. But since becming a manager he has learnt a lot and grown. Who from the current team and in fairness the people that have come in or nearly in (Read the Mcpahil article) has said he is a psycho. The team that is doing well rave about what a great guy he is. People like Walters i.e. players that think they are better than they actually are got their egos knocked and so try and knock Roy.

As for ChmabersM, I really hope you were being sarcastic with your post. We had walters last season and look what was happening. We don't have walters now and Keane is running the team how he sees fit and we are second and drastically improving with each game.

Will you grow up. It was quite amusing laughing at your ridculous posts and I am sure you now get a little kick when others on here comment about you, but it just goes to show how pathetic you are and like walters we don't need you. Sorry dude but your posts are just pointless.

Yet another pathetic effort to belittle Roy Keane but it did not impress me at all, Jon Walters has got what he wanted and good luck to him and his Family, however I personally would rather have our Manager than a dozen Jon Walters'

No wonder Keane got rid of Walters if he kept sending people random photos of vomit!

Walters grow up! no one made you send a picture of your own vomit, you chose too! 2ndly at that time, (before the Exeter match) you had already made it clear that you didn't want to play for us anymore, so I don't think you can blame Roy for not believing you can you?!?!
Best you run along now, & enjoy the short time you have in the Prem league, cause even if Stoke don't get relegated, they will soon see that you're not as good as you believe you are!!

Surely he could have sent a picture of any old vomit though. He disclosed that his family had been suffering with a 'bug', it was probably a pic of theirs. Sorry Jon, but I think you need to back your claims up with proper evidence, we'd need a pic of you actually throwing up with at least a copy of that days newspaper in full view.

Tony Pullis can be a strict Manager too, I hope therefore that you don't ever get an upset stomach Jon !

Is this the same Jon Walters who on his departure said he wouldn't get involved in back stabing and comment on Roy etc ... so what's changed? Oh, the fact Stoke are not doing as well as Jon thought and the fact he is not the superstar player he clearly thought he was. I still wish Jon luck - but I'm afraid this type of thing makes him look really silly and will alienate him from the majority of ITFC fans. Shame.

p.s. Roy would be right to think Jon didn't want to be cup tied - especially knowing he wanted to move on. Can't see Roy has done anything wrong here (if indeed he actually wanted to see a picture - no evidence to suggest he did!!!!)
