Civelli and Delaney to Feature for Reserves Against Colchester
Civelli and Delaney to Feature for Reserves Against Colchester
Wednesday, 15th Sep 2010 12:57

Luciano Civelli and Damien Delaney will again feature for the reserves this evening when Chris Kiwomya’s men take on Colchester United at Maldon and Tiptree’s Park Drive ground (KO 7pm). The duo played 45 minutes of last week’s second string defeat to Oxford United at Portman Road.

Delaney has been out of action since picking up a serious thigh problem in pre-season training, while Civelli is continuing his return from his 18 months out with a multi-ligament knee injury.

Speaking earlier in the week, manager Roy Keane said that the Argentinian impressed him against Oxford: “Medically, he’s fine and he just needs to build up that confidence in his leg and he’ll only get that by playing minutes, not in training matches and training sessions, it’ll come from getting games and getting some tackles, people tackling him.

“Last week he played really well in the first 45 minutes for the reserves and he might get an hour or maybe 70 minutes on Wednesday night.”

Delaney is likely to be given a similar run-out against the U’s, who will include striker Steven Gillespie, keeper Ben Williams and defender Ben Coker in their line-up.

Thank you Dr. Zippy. Keane: "Medically, he's fine". You clearly know different. I'd like to know how you've come by this information, bearing in mind the Hippocratic Oath and all that.

@gogs

If you read the Hippocratic Oath it states that you are not to share medical knowledge with anyb ody - not even other doctors. Civelli is done. If I were an opposition manager and Luca was playing, I would tell my hard man to go "Haagland" on his knee !!!! He is done and you read it her first.

Saw Malden and Tiptree play a few weeks ago against Needham Market, no mugs and could prove good opposition.
