Swansea Make Priskin Offer
Swansea Make Priskin Offer
Friday, 23rd Jul 2010 22:49

Swansea City are understood to have offered Town £400,000 for striker Tamás Priskin. New Swans boss Brendan Rodgers was the Watford manager during the 2008/09 season in which Priskin scored 14 goals, leading to his £1.7 million move to the Blues.

Rodgers, who also targeted Priskin last summer when he was Reading boss, neither confirmed nor denied his interest in the former Győri ETO striker when asked earlier in the week.

The Hungarian international wasn’t amongst the eight players the Blues recently made available for transfer, perhaps signalling that Roy Keane intends to give the 23-year-old another chance this season. Priskin, who spent the second half of last season on loan at QPR, has started all of Town’s first team pre-season friendlies so far, but without scoring.

If Town do decide to sell one of last summer’s bigger money signings, the Blues will almost certainly be looking for a fee somewhat nearer to the figure they paid a year ago. Priskin is contracted to Town until 2012.

Why is it priskin has a poor season and everyone wants to get shot of him yet roy keane also has a poor season and everyone says we must get behind him?

This is a complete joke ! Priskin has talent and is an international player - the problem is KEANE . He has no idea how to bring out the best in players and he destroys confidence . I cannot believe there are still " I believe in RK " fans still around - whether you like/respect ? the man or not , all you have to do is listen to what he says, look what he does , watch how he reacts and be aware of the situation ITFC find themselves in now ! Garvan , Priskin , Pablo , Stead ,D Wright all could have been moulded into a useful team with the right manager .
Keane is a liability with the once proud, passing and respected club in decline.

I feel that alot on here are looking for Priskin to have a fantastic season unrealisticly, ok I accept that atmosphere at PR is shocking, & as fans we should get behind the team, but lets just hold on a minute, the fans need the players to perform to have something to shout about! it's got to work both ways, the standard of football at PR last season would have left any club's fans quiet!

It's not as if Priskin was bursting a blood vessel to help change his personal fortunes on the pitch was it, he looked lazy, un-interested, & it's down to him to put himself about & in positions that he can score from. He's employed (& paid highly) to put the ball in the back of the net, & he's not doing it! whether the fans chant his name or not.
Yes, he may be an international, but this counts for little in a Hungray side that failed to qualify for the World Cup. I also accept that Keane may have not handled some players correctly, but the 8 players that have been listed have all had chances to prove their worth, Garvan has had years to show his true talent, but it just hasn't happened for him, Pablo is past his best now, he's never been the same player since we re-signed him. I like Stead, but if he needs to be sold to bring in new faces then he's despensable ahead of Wickham or Walters. D.wright great defender, but little going forward. R.Wright being paid to much to sit on the bench. (always been a great shot stopper, but, lacks a commanding presence & always flapped at crosses)

IMO in makes sense now to cut out the dead wood while we have the chance, & give Keane the chance to replace these players, other than Priskin all the others were already at the club, there not Keanes signings.

So bring on the new signings & lets have something to really chant about next season, rather than watch average players, failing to live upto expectation.

£400,000? For that we should throw in Martin, Edwards AND Keane - then take the money and run

Lets keep him. Remember what happened after Kuqi nearly went to a german club (cant remember name) because it wasnt happening here??

I say give him another chance this season.

What we really need is a creative midfielder to put balls through to priskin and wickham. Sorry has that been said before??!!

Sadly I think 400K is a good price. Having seen him play last season he isn't worth much more. It just goes to show how we were ripped off last season. There was Roy desperate to sign someone, with a wad full of cash from a rich benefactor..........a fool and his money are sooner parted

Kentish - that's about right my friend. Sometimes signings just don't work out. I would suggest that the Martin signing is actually worse - he got a five year contract - unreal.

Priskin has been v.poor and where I understand fans hoping & praying & getting behind the players, etc, this boy just isn't the one. Do we really want Wickham to struggle beacuse of Priskin? We need an established, experienced goalscorer aho can lead the line and from whom Wickham can learn & develop. Priskin ain't the man and if we have to ship folks out in order to make room for new blood - off he goes for me. Sorrry.

It's just an initial offer! If he goes we'll get more than that. If we were to get Chopra we won't need him anyway - though we'd need to keep Steady; but I'm sure RK knows that!

Say we accept £600k that would get him of the wage bill and pay for the extra that it seems Chopra might be be holding out for. If this deal opens the way for another I'd take it - Priskin or Chopra? It's a no brainer surely.

£500,000 is probably about right for Priskin. £1.7 million must represent one of the worst purchases in the clubs history. Probably only just eclipsed by the £2 million for Martin. I think Keane could trump even these though if he pays £4 mill for Chopra!
We have a donut for a manager! Get Mogga while we have the chance

I suggest keeping Priskin and give him a proper run of back to back games then we will start see why we paid so much for him. He was good for Watford and can be good for us, but he is clearly lacking confidence for whatever reason.

400k will do, its what we should have paid for him. get him out of here.
no one will ever pay a million for him, get him off the wage bill.

I have to agree that £400K is a little low - but then again transfer figures are all rumours anyway. I believe we signe Priskin for an unisclose fee, thought to be in the region of £1.7M - but i that inclue appearance fees etc? I personally believe Priskin needs to move on for his own goo as well as ours.

Try and get £500,000 or a bit more and we have a deal! Sometimes in life and in football things don't work out it's the way it goes. If we keep him he has untill xmas to prove his worth while, If not it could be difficult to move him on just like 'Red hot phone lisbie' lol!! The extra money we do get will always come in handy fingers crossed we can get chopra & fulop!!! It would have been a good pre season if we do and keane would deserve a pat on the back! COYB

@ my last post > Knee Jerk reaction there - having considered it for a bit longer. I'd be inclined to give Mr Rodgers a polite phone call and request he 'Feks Off.

I don't think £400k is enough... But can we really expect any more? Probably not. therefore I'd say no ang give him another chance... depends if we are close to signing a new forward really...

This must be straining rogers frienship with Keane. And rogers nearly came here as AM.

So Rogers sells for 1.7 and buys back at 400k. He gave Roy a real roger-ing.

Priskin did have a change of scenary at QPR and they dont want him either.

The guy has a good touch and has skill but even in the pre seasons he is still missing one on ones. His confidence is shot .Maybe getting fullop or guypes might help. I would take a chance on him and keep him. 400k is a real PT and such a small contribution to the 5.2 mill chops and fullop will cost us.

Martin was 1.5 mill tops i recon , not 2 mill like someone said. But again it would be brill to get a mill for him.
Priskin is young and an international , he has to be worth 1 mill to someone to ressurect his career.

unfortunately prob what he is worth going on current form, still think he has more to offer, needs pull his finger out though, got ability. Keane did pay well over the odds though.

We're are either getting done now, or we were done when we signed him. Bad business all round.

Keep hold of the player for another season. He will have settled more and hopefully he will get a good start to the season!

Lets face it we talked up the price when we signed him and paid through the nose because we kept missing out on our targets ( rather like Priskin infact).
Seems Swansea have a fair and accurate valuation of him. Take the money thats what I say, count your losses and use the cash to incenterise our strikeforce ( when the rest arrive )
